an initiative bill to closo tho Roguo
and its tributaries to commercial fishing.
The following is the text of tho Ini
tiative bill to bo submitted to tho
people tor signatures:
A bill for an act to protect fish In
Rogue river, to punish those who vio
late this act, and to repoal all laws
In conflict herewith.
Bo it enacted by tho-people of the
state of Oregon:
Section 1. It shall bo unlawful for
any person to take or attempt to take
any fish of any kind whatsoever from
the waters of Rogue river or of any
of its trlbutaiies with a seine net,
trap, fish wheel or by any other
means except with hook and line,
commonly called angling.
Section 2. Any person violating
any provision of this act shall upon
conviction bo punished by fine not
less than one hundred nor more than
five hundred dollars or by imprison
ment not less than thirty days "nor
more than six months In tho county
jail, or by both such fine and impris
onment.
Section 3. All laws and parts of
laws, general or special, in conflict
with this act are hereby repealed.
