of Ashland, Or., are in Portland in
specting the different kinds of pav
ing material used in the city. Plans
of the Ashland solous contemplate
tho paving of about four miles of
streets of that city this year, and
tho officials are anxious to select
the best on tho market.
"Ashland is growing rapidly," said
Mayor Snell. "We are making it a
home town nnd a tourist town nnd
a health resort. Many wealthy peo
ple are going to Ashlnnd to live, and
a number are buildiug fine homes.
Property is risinc in value and many
divisions are beiinr subdivided. Our
water supply comes direct from the
melted snow, as does Portland's and
I do not believe there is n better
climate in the world. Most encour
aging to us is the fact that many
residents of Southern California are
going to Ashlnnd to live, preferring
the climate.
"The school census shows that the
population of Ashland hns increased
to 6800 and wo believe the federal
census will show it is about 7000.
New residents are arriving and farm
land never sold more rapidly."
Mayor Snell was recently victori
ous in a recall election. In the recall
election he hnd a larger plurality
than when originally elected.
