should bo frequently renewed. A
fec&vy Hiring or leather thong about
18 Inches lone should be tied to tho

ments. This string or thong serves
as a means with which to whirl the
ysyefcrometer. To use the instrument
wet tho llnen-cjvered bulb with clean
"water and whirl the instrument rap-
iSily so as to produce rapid ovapora

'Whirling should be continued until

rilTferenco is found until opposite the

juaple: Dry-bulb thermometer reads

xxses; tbe difference Ib 9 degrees.

JSuad of the tt.blo to 9 degrees, run
Sown 'the colucn under 9 decrees un-1
This high dew point shows that there
can be no frost within the next 12
hours under normal conditions. An
other example: Dry-bulb thermomotor
reads 49 degrees; wet-bulb reads 41
deg-ees; the difference i3 8 degrees.
From the tnblo wo find that the dew
point is 31 degrees. In this case the
dew point is low and a heavy frost is
indicated. This example is taken
from the actual roadings on March 24,
at 6 p. m. It will be remembered that
tho temperature reached 27 degrees
on the following moraine. As a rule,
the temperature that may be ex
pected before morning is. 3 or 4 de
grees lower uh. n tho dew point read
ing taken the previous evening. In tho
last example subtracting 4 from 31
degrees leaves 27 degrees. Of course
it must be understood that if the wind
continues to blow briskly or if clouds
cover the sky, a low dew point in the
early evening would not indicate
frost under these condition The
psychrometer is nn Indicator of possl
ble temperatures when tho sky re
mains clear and tho wind does not
blow. Before relying on this instru
mcnt, some knowledge of possible
weather conditions should be obtained
from the nearest United States weath
er bureau station.

Bonitn, the famous beauty and
star of tho merry musical comedy,
"Wine, Womnu and Song, has n
hobby for riding in the streetcars.
Being n clos; observer, Bonitn has
heard nnd seen a great deal of both
serious and humorous "pay-as-yoti-enlor-humanity."
Tho following is
Bonita's latest addition to her "six-for-n-qunrter"
collection. This
happened in Akron, 0. A livdy had
beon shopping about town nnd when
sho boarded a car from homo she
carried in her hands nnd arms bun
dles of all shapes and sir.es. Tho car
was crowded nlmost to its standing
capacity and because of tho bunnies
sho carried it was impossible for her
to reach and hang on to the strap.
Seated in tho enr among the passen
gers wero n number of young men
going home, tired from their day's
work, and notiu got up to offer a
scat to the lady with tho lmndlos.
Tho conductor had pulled tho rope,
signaling tho oar to start, when sho
commnnded that ho "wait u ininuto."
Casting a scornful xlnnoo of disdnin
lit tho men who wer son tod and in
a nortli polo voice sho nmmrked: "If
thcro isn't a gentleman in tho oar
willing to uivo n lady a sent 111 get
off." She got off.

Onu sido got it just as had ns tho

Isaacs wns hit quite frequently,
but with one exception ho was with
in tho lines of tho butter's ho. when
iStrtiok by tho hall. Thoro is no rule
in baseball that requires n batsman
to stop out of the box to avoid being
hit. Most of them do, however, hut
u batsman can take tho hit without
violating tho rules of the game, and
it is playing the game, at that. The
idea is to got on the first bag by
wnlking, being hit or slamming the
hall. A man has no unlit to s!oi in
the way of u hall, hut most of tho
time Sunday tho Medford boys were
stepping out of tho way of Osboruo'n
wild honves. IIo hit Isaacs three
times, Blackington twice, Strain
twice nnd Henselmau once. It was
very unfortunate that Orants Pass
lost, of course, hut it wasn't because
tho rooters foiled to do their share.
When the fans crowd around first

thoy did that day. I don't sco where

Two of the Medford plavcrs were
doliboratoly interfered with, nnd ono
of them was hurt hv tho Orants Bass

drop (ho ball. It will bo remembered
thnt Wheeler nnd Dillon of Los An
geles tried that game on Olson Inst

hut ho vnntn another chance ut'tlio

I do not believe that the Ohsorvor
reflects tho sentiment of Orants
Pass or of tho ball team. The
Ornntn Pass sjMirtK are usually on
tho squnro and nlways accept defeat
with equanimity.

ELECTRIC PARK
Adjoins the county seat, Jacksonville; 20 minutes' ride by train or auto
from Medford. This beautiful wooded tract contains 650 acres of land, com
manding a magnificent view of Medford and the valley. It is proposed to in
corporate a company, capitalized at $65,000, with 650 shares of stock at $100
per share. After incorporating, it is proposed to plat and subdivide the
pounds into acre tracts, plant it to fruit, best adapted to the soil, and sell it
at an average price of $500 per acre, on easy terms. Each share of stock rep
resents one acre, and for a short time stock will be sold for $100 'per share. $10
cash and $5 per month for 18 months. This stock is not for sale as a whole at
$100 per share, nor at the rate of $100 -per aero. The company proposes to
realize much more out of it for the stockholders. Over fifty of Medford 's livo
booster business men have already invested. Two hundred more booster in
vestors are wanted to purchase ono share only each.
The combined boosting of this Electric Park bunch will make a populous
suburb to Medford, make hundreds of beautiful homes, make an hourly serv
