r
Wife of Man Who Died of Strych
nine Polsonlnu In October Is
Chariicd With Complicity.
KIRKSVILLE, Mo., Fell. 20.--MrH.
Alum Vaughn, widow oC Prof.
J. T. Vaughn, who died of strychnine
poisoning in October, wuh arrested
for complicity in the death of her
liilHhand today.
Dr. JnmoHll. Hull of Monroo Cit.t
probably will bo rearrested Monday
on nn indictment charging him with i
having murdered Vaughn. Hull wax
first arrested Thursday and was re
leased on ijwTiOQ bnil. Both Mrs.
Vaughn and Hull wore released under
bonds today. Tho relatives of Mrs.
Vaughn, who are wealthy, bad pre
pared to give bail aggregating a mil
lion dollars.
Owing to the prominence of Mrs.
Vaughn, however, Prosecutor IWi
gcr was of the opinion that a large
bond would not bo necessary to as
sure her appearance in court. As
a result sho was given her liberty on
a $25,000 bond.
According to tho renort of a spe
cial grand jury which investigated
Professor Vaughn's death, made
public today, Vaughn died of dry
strychnine poisoning.
Mrs. A'ntighn carno to Kirksville
voluntarily to accept service of the
warrant. At first she appeared to be
in excellent spirits, and showed no
indications of being worried because
of the serious charge against her.
When sho was called to tho bar,
however, and tho charge was form
ally rend to her, sho collapsed and
wept violently. The realization of
her predicament seemed suddenly to
overwhelm her. When the formali
ties bad been completed sho was il
most carried to her cab.
