At the Presbyterian church a feat

program being rendered by tho tiny
ones followed by the distribution of
eifts from a tinsel-colored tree. At
8 o'clock tho order children gave n
program that was unique nnd enjoyed
alike by younfj nnd old. Tho church
was effectively decorated, a color
scheme of red and green being car
ried put with ivjv and Christmas
bells.

tho common sense and intelligence of
making Christmas preparations early,
donbttcss hnd its effect. The mer
chants did not complain of the usual
unendurable rush of tho two dnys
precceding nnd more leisure at the
last was general nrnongall classes.
Miss Arra Harmon gave a typical
kindergarten entertainment Friday
morning nt her home, 1009 West Sev
enth street, for the members of her
class. A program of songs was ren
dered and gifts distributed from the
tree to the great delight of the little
people.

ing tho morning hours the streets

Tho mnsicalo given by the pupils of
St. Mary's Academy, Tuesday ovon
ing, was ono of tho most enjoyable
affairs of tho week nnd brought out a
largo audience who listened attentive
ly to tho entertaining; program. Tho
racnts of the school, being well lighted
auditorium of the academy bmlomg is
well adapted to the public entertain
and comfortably seated, whilo tho
stngo in the rear forms a convenient
and suitable setting for thto perform
erst Tho concerted solo work of tho
pupils on five pianos was interesting,
showing exactness nnd pcrcision of
rhythm nnd uniformity of expression
that is attained onlyq after careful
and long continued practice. Only
two pupils, Miss Gertrude Fay and
Miss Madge Mayo, appeared in solo
work, rendering difficult selections
with facile technique and musicianly
interpretation, promising jnnch for
future attainment in the musical
world. ,
The list of Yankee comedy, "Ma
Dnscnberry and Hor Gcark," was well
put on ; Miss Mayo in the leading role
showed great cleverness and skill as a
comedienne, while tho minor parts
were well taken. The sisters of tho
school are to be congratulated on the
successful work done by each individ
ual pupil. -
The Christmas party at tho William
Angle homo yesterday included tho
family of Mrs. S. T. Havard, Mr. and
Mrs. Horace Howard, Mr. nnd Mrs.
E. C. Gaddis, Mr. nnd Mrs. II. F.
Piatt, and Mr. nnd Mrs. Wm. Angl'
who are at homo from their ranch for
tho holidays.
Tho Star restaurant was tho scene
of joyous Christmas festivities Friday
evening, when the fnmily of Rev. and
Mrs. W. E. Goodo nnd invisted friends

were sung. Miss Ethel Goodo gave a
recitation, after which Santa Claus
appeared and generously distributed
