Necessity in tho Valley.
Threo now clubs vero elected to
membership In the American Auto
mobile association at the regular
monthly meeting ot tho cxecutlvo
committee, held recently at national
headquarters, 437 Fifth avenue, New
York. They wore: Atlanta Automo
moblle association ot Atlanta, Ga.;
Waco Automobile club, Waco, Tex.,
and the Rowan County Automobile
club of Salisbury, X. C. At tho samo
timo favorable reports were received
indicating that acttvo work is pro
gressing toward the formation of
Btato associations In Texas, North
Carolina, Alabama and Florida.
Secretary B. M. Reed of tho Tampa
club stated that automobile Interest
was Increaclng rapidly in all parts of
Florida and the clubs that are likely
to be affiliated with tho state body
will be tho Tampa, Daytona, DeLand,
Orlando, Bartow, Brookvlllo, Ocala,
Gainesville and Jacksonville clubs.
President Lewis B. Spearo of Boston,
who presided at the meeting, an
nounced the appointment of Ralph
W. Smith, president of tho Denver
Motor club, also president ot tho Col
orado Statae Automobllo association,
as a member ot the A. A. A. commlt-toc.
Med ford leads tho world In the
n mber of automobiles per capita of
! population. Statistics show that -it
I the present t'mo thero la ono automo
bile In use to every 500 population
In tho United States. Pasadena, with
splendid roads, and called the "city
of millionaires," has one automobllo
to every 72 population. Modford has
one for every 30. Tuo number of
automobiles exceed 200 200 In the
city. And Modford is well equipped
with garages, up-to-date in every par
ticular, to caro for them.
Tho automobllo Is not p. luxury In
tho valley. It has become a neces
sity. Tho o-cliard owners reside in
tho city and when tho rush times
como on they must need visit their
orchards several times a, day. Tho
automobile is needed. In the city
'o auto Is needed for running er
rands, for short pleasuro trips and
the like. A 'evel valley rddc Incen
tive until today Modford leads In
the number ot automobiles.
Many cars havo been purchased for
tho coming year and auto dealers aro
unanimous In their censure of the
fact that they are not p.llotted more
cars. Tho outlook for the coming
year Is splendid and tho motor car
men are planning to make tho most
of It.
Tho C. It. Sayder Motor Car com
pany reports tho sale of n 1910 Cad
illac "30" touring car to II. C. Dixon
of Grants Pass the past week. They
also report that they only have four
1910 CadMlacs loft and can give early
delivery on but two of these.
