GOTHAM APPLE
TRADEWEAKER
Western Apples Arrive, But Are Not
Wanted Fancy Reds Had
Call Throughout
Week.
(Mall Tribune Special Service.)
NEW YORK, Not. 12. Under ex
cesslvo receipts snd influenced to
somot extant by hoi weather condi
tions, tho rpplo markot this - week
' was weaker and prices for small and
Inferior fruit suffered a decline. The
poor and ordinary kinds which havo
congested tho market for some, time,
showed a slight lncreaso this week,
and as a result there was less vim
and snap to trading than has been
notlceablo for some tlmo.
Election day Interfered to a con
siderable extent with tho movement,
and thoro wore heavy accumulations
on tho dock fiom day to day. Most
of tho stook offered came from up
river sections, Albany county nnd
, Vermont. A concldcrablo portion of
the arrivals from wesctorn Nov York
aand Missouri had to bo put, away In
cold storage, as present prices .would
ontall a loss to tho ownota woro tho
stock placed on 'the markot at this
time.
Several cars of western box apples
arrived, but they met with a. dull do
niand and a poor' outlet. Tho finest
. varieties did not bi'lnn; over $1 to
to $1.75 per package. Fancy red soft
tablo kinds had the call throughout
tho week.
