the public school there.. His sister,
Miss Lenna, has charge of that depart
ment this week during the absence of
the regular teacle Miss Corfipton.
A Box Social will be given at the
Strawberry school house, Saturday
evening, December 22nd. A short
program will be given after which the
baskets will be sold at auction. Every
body invited to come and enjoy them
selves and assist in raising money to
pay for the organ.

SCHOOL NEWS
The enrollment is still increasing,
and consldsrable above this time last
year.
Several visitors vera present in
Miss Hammers room last Wednesday.
Preparations for the X'Mas enter
tainment are about completed. The
musical part under the charge of Mrs.
E. E. Thomas promises to be by far
the best attempt of that kind ever giv
en here. A short time ago work of
that kind from very many of the young
people of the town would have bsen
out of the question.
The basket ball team from the
school seems to be a little too much
for the town tam. Either the school
boys put up a very good game or else
the town team is a poor one. Next
Friday tvening Lexington plays Hepp
ner at Heppner and probably then we
will find out whether either team can
play or not.

The dance at Geo. Meads' Saturday
night was enjoyed by all.

Mr. John Padberg has completed
his new house.
Mr. W. H. Padberg drove to Pen
dleton November 24th, and returned
before thanksgiving.
Miss. Annie Campbell has taught 5
weeks of school at Social Ridge.
Social Ridge has organized a Sun
day School recently.
