Michael. T. Nolan, Register at The
Dalles Land Office, has . tendered his
resignation to take effect as soon as
his successor has been appointed. Mr!

Notices for the Town election have
been posted the past week. The elec
tion will be held December 4, and the
officers to be elected are Mayor, four
Councilmen, Recorder and 'Treasurer,
also a proposition to levy a 15 mill tax
on town property. This tax will place
the town out of debt and the natural
revenues will pay future expenses.

Let the people unite and make a
strong effort to secure a station agent
at Lexington. At present if the con
ductor of the train, who takes the
place of an agent, does not see fit to
to load the goods delivered at the sta
tion for shipment he simply refuses to
receipt for them. The goods can be
left at the station at the risk of the
shipper untill the train crew gets ready
to take them.
