A. K. Fuller has his harvesting and
threshing completed. His grain made
an average of nearly 14 bushels per
acre.

Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Calkin spent
last Saturday and Sunday in lone.
Mrs. Calkin remained to visit relatives

Wash., sister of Mrs. R. J, Howard,
is spending a few weeks with relatives
and friends in this county.
Prof. R. B. Wilcox was in town
Tuesday and informed The Wheat
field that school would commence the
first Monday in September.
A sample of water taken from the
Lexington water system was sent to
the State Board of Health for analysis.
The returns show that the water is
good drinkable water and free from all
bacteria.
B. F. Swaggart was In town yester
dey to meet his wife who arrived from
Pendleton on yesterday's taain. Mr.
Swaggart said he was well satisfied
with his crop this year taking the sea
son into consideration.
A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. R.
J. Howard last Saturday morning,
which lived only a moment after birth.
The mothers life was saved by close
medical attention and the constant
care of the nurse. The little Infant
was taken to Heppner Sunday morn
ing where it was Interred in the Hepp
ner cemetery.
A Mr. Hynd, an old gentleman,
living In the Sand Hollow country, got
turned around last Saturday and start

finally reached the home of Mr. Wiles
at South Springs by night. When he
did not appear at home by the time he
should have arrived there an alarm
was given and searching parties were
organized who spent the night search
ing for the lost man. Mr. Wiles took
him to his home early Sunday morn
ing. Mont Ward, of Condon, uncle of
Mrs. Wm. A. Graham, spent last Sat
urday and Sunday In Lexington. Mr.
Graham accompannied him home
where he has accepted a position as
foreman on one of Mr. Ward's ranch
es. Mrs. Graham will remain in Lex
ington a few weeks and continue to
receive medical treatment. Mrs.
Graham was almost ah invalid when
she came to Lexington, but under the
skillful care of Dr. Hunter has made
great improvement and expects to be
in perfect health when she leaves here.

Heppner Times
A. Andrews returned Monday from
an extensive visit with his sister at
Ashland and his daughter at Coos
Bay. Mrs. Andrews did not accom
pany her husband but will remain a few
weeks longer with her daughter, Mrs,
Louis Putnam, before returning. Mr.
Andrews reports a very pleasant visit;
also that the . Coos Bay country
is building up very rapidly.

week. It appears that Mr. Minor was
not aware of the fact that the time for
the open season for grouse hunting was
changed by the last legislature, and for
that reason was "run in" by Deputy
Game Warden V. H. Heath. The
open season for grouse hunting now be
gins August 15 instead of August 1.
It is so easy to find fault with the
good things 'possessed by others.
