Portland done a wise thing when
she purchased the Forestry building as
a permanent exhibit.
Perhaps the present telephone
company will give us better service
after the rural lines get connected
through to Portland.
We hear many complaints about
Lexington's sidewalks. An ordinance
establishing a grade and forbidding the
numerous steps would be a great ad
vantage to the town.
The Oregon Press Association pass
ed a resolution to abolish the use of the
term "Webfoot." and refer to Oregon
as the Beaver State.
The supreme court has decided that
H. H. Rogers must answer the ques
tions asked him by Attorney General
Hadley, in the Standard Oil case.
River men say that traffic on the
upper Columbia will be the heaviest
ever known In the spring. It is ex
pected that passenger travel will also
be heavy.

The Oregon Journal has made ar
rangements to publish the letters of
W. J. Bryan in its Sunday issue. Mr.
Bryan is on a two year tour of foreign
lands, and his letters will make excel
lent reading, as Mr. Bryan Is a bril
liant writer. The Sunday Journal Is a
great newspaper, filled with all the
good things of newspaperdom. '

School began In our school house
Monday January 8th and Is running
nicely. -
Nathan Musgrave has moved Into
the property of his brother Henry and
will be handy to school. "
B. A. McCormick, the. carpenter,
finished our school house Saturday 2nd
Is ready to turn it over to the district.
The box supper at Strawberry school
house was a complete success, not
with standing the bad weather. The
net proceeds were $35.65.
James M. White bid farewell to his
parents and friends and started for
Missouri Thursday, where he will make
his future home. May God be with
him until we meet again.
Mr. Sibley went to lone last Friday
and brought In the last of the lumber,
for the new school house. The house
will soon be completed and ready for
school, and we will have a neat little
school house.
