The weather In Black Horse has
been cold and dry far the last few
dys. The farmers are all busy sitt

Mrs. J. C. Brown was taken sudden
ill last Monday and has been very low
since. Dr. Klstner was called and
has hopes of her recovery.
Just as we go to press we learn that
Mr. Brown died Tuesday night. Ed.
Frank Myers has been on the sick
list the past week.
James Brown has been confined to
his bed the past ten days.
The prospects for next years' crop
In the Black Horse district is very
good.
The Black Horse Literary and De
bating society Vas organized Decem
ber 9th. Perr jCltzmiller was elected
president, Miss Grace Stamp, secre
tary and James Doherty, treasurer.
The society now has a membership of
thirty-eight with prospects for a large
and rapid Increase in membership la
the neat" future. The question for de
bate at the last meeting was: "Resolv
ed, That there is more pleasure In
pursuit Jhan possession." The affir
mative won. The question for the
next meeting night, December 30th.
is, "Resolved, That intemperance'
causes more trouble than war." The
society meets every Saturday night at
