The Dalles, Oregon, November 22, 1905.
A sufficient contest affidavit having betn
filed in this office by John W. Brumbaugh,
sontestant, against homestead entry No.
11529, made October 7, 1902, for NEX.
Section 26, Township 1, N. Range 26, E.
W. M., by Thomas H. Doty, Contestant, in
which it is alleged that said entryman has
wholly abandoned said land for more than
six months last past; that said entryman
has not at any time made and established a
residence upon nor cultivated or paused to
be cultivated any portion of said tract nor
made any imprvements thereon; that said
alleged absence was not due to his employ
ment in the army, navy or marine corps of
the' United States in time ( war. Said
parties are hereby notified to appear, re
spond and offer evidence touching said al
legation1 at 10 o'clock', m. on January 13,
1906. before W. B. McAlister, a U. S.
Commissioner, at his office In Lexington,
Oregon, and that final hearing will be held
at 10 o'clock a. m. on January 20, 1906,
before the Register and Receiver at the
United States Land Office In The Dalles,
Oregon.
The said contestant having, In a proper
affidavit, filed November 22, 1905, set forth
facts which show that after due diligence
personal service of this notice can not be
made, it Is hereby ordered and directed
that such notice be given by due and prop
er publication.

The Wheatfield will give to some boy
or girl a scholarship in the Pendleton
Acad emy. This achool is recognized as
one of the best on the coast.
The graduate of Pendleton Academy
is within five of graduation from the
classical course of Harvard University,
without further entrance examination.
CONDITIONS
The only conditions attached being that the one
elected must be one who has completed at least the
Seventh grade in the Oregon course of study.
Commencing today, November 1G, and continu
ing until December 20, 1905, each dollar paid on
subscription will entitle you to cast 100 votes for
.some boy or girl whom you desire to see capture
this unequaled prize. The only cost to party se
lected, will be for board, the tuition being all ar
ranged for.
