Thursday, Aug. 4 6:52 a.m. — Umatilla County sheriff’s deputies responded to North First Street, Hermiston, on a report of an assault. 9:59 a.m. — Hermiston police received a report of a vehicle theft on Southeast Second Street. 1:45 p.m. — A resident on Southwest Utah Street, Irrigon, reported a male who was not supposed to be there was in her house. Morrow County sheriff’s deputies and the ambulance from Irrigon responded and took the person to Good Shepherd Medical Center, Hermiston. 3:36 p.m. — Boardman fire and police re- sponded to Harvest Town Foods, 220 S. Main St., Boardman, on a report of a vehicle that hit a female while she was walking and caused pain in her hip. An ambulance took her to Good Shepherd Medical Center, Hermiston. 5:55 p.m. — A caller on Steagall Road, Irrigon, reported he and another male were fighting and the other male was trying to leave in a ve- hicle. 6:29 p.m. — A resident on Gilmore Street, Hep- pner, reported his son has been bullied lately and this day someone punched him in the head. The father said he did not want to pursue charges but wanted to “make a trail of events” in case this escalates. 11:52 p.m. — Hermiston police initiated activity at East Catherine Avenue for violating the city’s curfew. Friday, Aug. 5 8:17 a.m. — A caller on Columbia Avenue Northwest, Boardman, reported her daughter’s father was causing a disturbance. Police re- sponded and separated the parties. 11:09 a.m. — A resident on Olson Road, Board- man, reported the theft of a number of items from outside the house and tracks around the property. The Morrow County Sheriff’s Office is investigating. 11:55 a.m. — A caller on Southeast Court Ave- nue, Heppner, reported there was a skunk in an Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife trap. 12:17 p.m. — Emergency services in Boardman responded to Columbia Avenue Northeast and Laurel Lane for a two-vehicle crash. An ambu- lance took one patient to Good Shepherd Med- ical Center, Hermiston. Police cited one man for driving while suspended and failure to obey a traffic control device. 2:25 p.m. — A resident on Little Butter Creek Road, Echo, reported the theft of a gun within the last six weeks. 9:26 p.m. — A resident on Faler Road, Board- man, reported his neighbor tried to hit him in his vehicle and get his dog to attack him. This is an ongoing issue, the person said. The Morrow County Sheriff’s Office started an investigation. 11:10 p.m. — A caller reported someone may have been stealing items from an antique store on Highway 730, Irrigon. Saturday, Aug 6 1:49 a.m. — Hermiston police received a re- port of a burglary on the 900 block of East Main Street. 2:27 a.m. — A caller reported a utility pole was down and power was out in several homes at Southwest Fourth Street and Nevada Avenue, Irrigon. The caller said she crashed after swerv- ing to miss a deer. Several emergency services responded. Morrow County Sheriff’s Office cited the driver for careless driving with an accident and failing to drive within a lane. 9:20 p.m. — A caller reported two people were fighting behind the school near the Morrow County Fair Grounds, Heppner. BRIEFS Round-Up, Happy Canyon partners offer BMCC scholarship PENDLETON — The Pend- leton Round-Up & Happy Canyon Hall of Fame wran- gled in support from Pendleton Round-Up stock contract per- sonnel to provide a scholarship to a Blue Mountain Community College student. This is the sec- ond year the scholarship has been offered. The Pendleton Round-Up & Happy Canyon Hall of Fame Contract Personnel Scholar- ship provides $2,500 to assist a BMCC student with educa- tional costs, including tuition, fees, books, housing, food, utili- ties or fuel. One recipient from qualified applicants will be selected to re- ceive the scholarship award. Applicants must be able to show proof of enrollment at BMCC for the 2022-23 winter term and hold a minimum 2.0 GPA. Interested students must submit a completed application along with an essay (maximum 750 words) that answers a ques- tion as to why the Pendleton Round-Up and Happy Canyon are important to them and to the community.
