SET FOR JUNE 15
BAKER CITY — This year’s
Chalk It Up to Art is happening
Saturday, June 11, starting at
9 a.m. at Royal Artisan, 1912
Main St. This family-friendly
event provides the opportunity
— and the chalk — for families,
children and individuals to create
art on the downtown sidewalks.
Participants will meet at
Royal Artisan to gather supplies,
then head out to create colorful
works in front of participating
businesses.
LA GRANDE — Art Center
East’s monthly Writing Project
returns to an in-person format
at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 15,
at HQ, 112 Depot St. The
featured writer, Mary Emerick,
is the author of three books:
the novel “The Geography of
Water”; “Fire in the Heart,” a
memoir of wildland fi refi ght-
ing; and the “Last Layer of
the Ocean: Kayaking through
Love and Loss on Alaska’s
Wild Coast.” Emerick has also
published nature-based essays
in anthologies and journals. She
lives in Joseph and escapes
into the mountains as often as
she can.
Following the featured read-
ing, an open mic session is open
to anyone interested in sharing
an original piece. Writers of all
genres are welcome — open
mic sign-up starts at 6:45 p.m.
on a fi rst-come basis (limit of
10 readers per night). Readings
should be less than 5 minutes.

DRAG SHOW
PENDLETON — As part of
Pride Month, it’s time to Let ‘Er
Drag. Hosted by Tatiana Rexia,
the drag show will feature lo-
cal talent from Pendleton and
the Tri-Cities.
PFLAG Pendleton presents
the event Friday, June 10, at
Electric Sundown, 14 SE Third
St. The doors open at 7 p.m. and
the show starts at 8 p.m. Ad-
vance tickets are $10 (via https://

the 2022 season with racing
action two weekends in a row.
Royal Madness with an ap-
pearance by Mr. Dizzy is Satur-
day, June 11. Racing action also
features bump 2 pass, bombers,
hornets and legends. And the
following weekend — June 18
— off ers up the Atomic 125
Northwest Super Late Model
Series. It also includes hobby
stocks, street stocks, legends,
bombers, hornets and the Ford
Focus Midgets.
The gates open at 4 p.m. and
the racing starts at 6 p.m. at
81236 N. Highway 395. General
admission for adults is $20; se-
niors/veterans are $17; youths
are $15; and a family pass is
$50 (for two adults and three
youths). In addition, Speedy’s
Grill off ers a variety of food and
beverages.
