The fi lm’s director, Sian Heder, won for best adapted screenplay, and Troy Kotsur won best supporting actor — be- coming the fi rst Deaf male actor to win an Oscar, and the second Deaf performer. “As our industry recognizes ‘CODA’ with its highest honor, we’re excited once again to bring this moving fi lm to the- aters so that audiences can share in the experience of watching it together,” Apple Original Films’ Distribution executive Erica Anderson said in a statement. “As with previous theatrical runs, all showings will have open captions, so that the fi lm is accessible to the deaf and hard-of-hearing communities.” The fi lm debuted at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival and was sold to Apple for a record- breaking $25 million. The 111-minute coming-of- age comedy-drama, based on the 2014 French-Belgian fi lm “La Famille Belier,” was released in limited theaters cinemas last August. “CODA” also stars Emilia Jones, Eugenio Derbez and Academy Award-winning trail- blazer Marlee Matlin.
