P
ENDLETON — After a two-
year hiatus because of the
global pandemic, the Pendleton
Round-Up & Happy Canyon
Hall of Fame is shaking things
up with its signature fundraiser.
The Battle of the Bars is return-
ing bigger and better than ever,
Casey White-Zollman, Hall of
Fame vice president, said in a
press release.
Before local bartenders
mix things up, the event starts
with a cornhole tournament.
The fun begins Friday, April 1,
at 4:45 p.m. outside the Let ‘er
Buck Room on the Pendleton
Round-Up Grounds, 1205 SW
Court Ave. Doubles teams can
join the tournament for $50 per
team by signing up at 4 p.m.
“Cornhole has really exploded
around the country over the past
few years, so we hope people
will come play in the tournament
and then stick around for Battle
of the Bars,” said Ken Lebsock,
Hall of Fame Battle of the Bars
director.
There will be two divisions of
play for the double-elimination
tournament. Bags will be pro-
vided to contestants. There is a
50% prize purse. For information
about registering, call 541-969-
4721 or 541-310-0791.
And then get ready to rumble
as the event moves inside the
Let ‘er Buck Room at 6 p.m. for
the traditional Battle of the Bars
competition. Local bartenders
will fi ght it out mano a mano as
they create signature drinks us-
ing Pendleton Whisky.

Entry is free — people must
be 21 or older to attend. Tastes
and votes for each cocktail can
be purchased, along with beer,
wine and other traditional cock-
tails. Food from Mario’s Basque
Bar B-Q will also be available

continues with music, raffl es and

ment of the winning cocktail. The
victorious bar or restaurant will
gain bragging rights and a plaque
to commemorate their win.
“We’ve really missed having
this event the past two years,”
said Hall of Fame President Carl
Culham. “It’s going to be a lot
of fun having everyone back at
Battle of the Bars, supporting
the Hall of Fame while they enjoy
time back together.”
The Battle of the Bars is one
of the largest yearly fundraisers
for the Pendleton Round-Up &
Happy Canyon Hall of Fame. The
museum operates on member-
ship fees, donations, grants,
fundraisers and the time com-
mitment of volunteers.
Founded in 1969, it pre-
serves the history of Pendleton
Round-Up and Happy Canyon.
Exhibits include everything from
a full-sized teepee, wagons and
clothing to delicate beadwork,
saddles and photographs. In
2011, it received honorable
mention in True West Magazine’s
Top Western Museums.
The Hall of Fame is adjacent
to the Round-Up Grounds at
1114 SW Court Ave. It operates
late-March through November —
Tuesday-Saturdays, from 10 a.m.
to 4 p.m. — and entry is free. For
more information, call 541-278-
