Join an art class at the Josephy Center

OSEPH — The Josephy
Center for Arts and Culture
is off ering classes in a variety of
mediums.
On April 9, from 1-4 p.m., Dona
Miller is teaching how to make
one-of-kind pendants using a
cabochon stone centerpiece.
Learn how to design a pendant,
cut and fi nish the metal and set
the stone. Class cost: $65.
Next up, on April 16 from
12-3 p.m., Janet Hohmann is
teaching needle felting, the
process of using barbed needles
to turn wool fi bers into animals.
The class teaches needle felting
basics, resulting in a fi gure to
take home. Class cost: $25.
Nikki Beachy will lead an ex-
ploration of the colorful and fl uid
world of inks during a class on

April 30, 1-4 p.m. Class members
will learn signature techniques to
create expressive landscapes on
yupo paper.
May 21-22 is the two-day
“Composition and Color”
workshop with Robert Procter.
Saturday will focus on composi-
tion — how an artist arranges
pictorial elements. Western,
post-Renaissance and Eastern
approaches will be covered.
On Sunday, the class will work
on a variety of color elements
including the six dimensions of
color; creating shades, tints and
tones; broken color; simultane-
ous color; complementary color
and split complements. Procter’s
class will highlight aspects of
composition and color to media
like acrylic, gouache, oil, pastels,
powdered pigments, printing

ink and watercolor. Cost for the
weekend class is $200.
On May 31, Pam Beach
teaches beginning ceramics
using hand building and wheel
throwing techniques. Cost: $20.
WALK-IN WEDNESDAYS
A walk-in workshop is off ered
every Wednesday, 10 a.m.-noon.
Participants can explore various
medium disciplines and tech-
niques every Wednesday. All skill
levels are welcome. Cost is $20.
Proof of vaccination is required.
