TUESDAY, MARCH 15
2:40 p.m. — Hermiston police responded to North First Street
on a report of harassment.
3:34 p.m. — Hermiston police received a report of child abuse/
neglect on Southeast Eighth Street.
3:41 p.m. — Hermiston police received a report of child abuse/
neglect on East Tamarack Avenue.
Heppner, asked law enforcement for assistance in finding out
the identity of a male in the emergency department who was
suffering from an overdose of Benadryl.
9:01 p.m. — A 911 caller at U-Haul Neighborhood Dealer,
2301 N. First St., Hermiston, reported four men in a trailer
slapped a female. Law enforcement responded.
2:05 a.m. — A resident on East Third Street, Ione, asked for a
Morrow County sheriff’s deputy to contact her because she
believed her ex took her firearms while she was packing her
belongings.
5:18 p.m. — Umatilla police responded to a restraining order
violation on Seventh Street.
10:28 a.m. — City Auto Sales, 80857 N. Highway 395, Hermis-
ton, made a theft complaint. Law enforcement responded.
5:27 p.m. — A caller reported the theft of a gun from a safe at a
residence on South First Street, Stanfield.
6:54 p.m. — A resident on South First Street, Irrigon, reported
he saw a male who may have been trying to steal the cata-
lytic converter from his vehicle. A Morrow County sheriff’s
deputy checked and did not find the person.
6:02 p.m. — Hermiston police responded to East Beebe Avenue
after a 911 call reporting a domestic disturbance in which the
husband was threatening his wife.
9:34 p.m. — Hermiston police responded to Southwest Ninth
Street on a report of a domestic disturbance.
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 16
12:23 a.m. — A Umatilla police officer initiated activity at the
Umatilla Police Department, 300 Sixth St., on a stalking com-
plaint.
9:37 a.m. — A resident in the area of Southeast Skyline Drive
and Chase Street, Heppner, reported 12-15 neighbors are upset
with the youths riding dirt bikes at all hours of the day in a
nearby field. She said she would call again if the Morrow County
Sheriff’s Office does not address this issue.
9:49 a.m. — A caller reported a man was lying in the bushes
at Pheasant Court and River Ridge Drive, Boardman. Police
responded and found he was working on a water line.
10:46 p.m. — A 911 caller on East Highway 730, Umatilla, re-
ported there were about eight black angus cows on the road.
11 p.m. — A resident on Southeast Hurd Place, Irrigon, asked
for extra patrols due to people in the night stealing fuel from
vehicles.
5:32 p.m. — A caller on Southeast 11th Street, Irrigon, reported
two dogs came up to her and her mother and one dog bit her
mother, who declined medical help.
8:36 p.m. — A 911 caller at Crossroads Truck Stop, 2020 Sixth
St., Umatilla, reported there was a man on the east side of the
building, screaming and pushing on the side door.
8:44 p.m. — Emergency services responded to the Boardman
Rest Area Eastbound on Interstate 84 for a vehicle with an
engine block fire.
1:35 p.m. — A resident on East Jennie Avenue, Hermiston, re-
ported he lost his Glock handgun or someone stole it. Police
took a report.
2:15 p.m. — A caller reported a violation of a restraining
order happened on West Orchard Avenue, Hermiston.
4:24 p.m. — A caller at the Irrigon Shell station, 300 S.E.
Highway 730, reported one female struck another female. A
Morrow County sheriff’s deputy responded, but the victim
did not want to report a crime. The deputy gave her a ride to
Boardman.
ARRESTS, CITATIONS
4:35 p.m. — Emergency services responded to Lewis and Clark
Drive and East Columbia Lane, Boardman, for a two-vehicle
crash. Police cited one man for careless driving and failure to
obey a stop sign.
March 16
2:41 p.m. — A resident on Southeast Utah Avenue, Irrigon,
reported neighbors shooting BB guns hit a juvenile on a scoot-
er. The Morrow County Sheriff’s Office responded and took a
report.
3:42 p.m. — A 911 caller at West Harper and Northwest Geer
roads, Hermiston, reported a car struck a motorcycle.
• Hermiston police arrested Daniel Perez Garcia, 25, of Herm-
iston, for reckless driving and driving under the influence of
intoxicants.
March 17
• Boardman police arrested Angel Ruiz Perez Castro, 26, on a
probation violation and for DUII and failure to carry or pres-
ent a driver’s license.
March 18
• Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office arrested Zachariah Dean
Vernon, 21, of Hermiston, for attempted assault of a public
safety officer, menacing and second-degree disorderly con-
duct.
• Morrow County Sheriff’s Office arrested Kenneth Marion
Stookey, 58, for DUII.
March 19
4:23 p.m. — A caller on East Pine Avenue in Hermiston, report-
ed she has been receiving what she thinks are scam messages
via Facebook Messenger and by text message that use the Lions
Club of Hermiston’s phone number.
7:31 p.m. — A 911 caller on Southwest Wyoming Avenue, Irri-
gon, reported a male struck her daughter. The Morrow County
Sheriff’s Office responded and took a report.
8:25 p.m. — A resident on Kunze Lane, Boardman, reported a
person was on their property and now several items are miss-
ing.
11 p.m. — A resident on Wagon Wheel Loop, Irrigon, made a
complaint about loud vehicles revving engines throughout the
night.

4:49 p.m. — A Hermiston resident asked to speak to an officer
about middle school students “sending very graphic videos
to each other in group chat.” The caller reported his daughter
showed him a video and was concerned other children are
sending those videos.
12:15 p.m. — A resident on Linden Way, Heppner, called the
Morrow County Sheriff’s Office to ask for help getting her ser-
vice dog back after a relative inadvertently let it out.

1:20 a.m. — Hermiston police received a report of a fight on
East Main Street.
10:44 p.m. — A resident on Wagon Wheel Loop, Irrigon, report-
ed her boyfriend threatened to destroy her and her car. He also
has a tracking device on her car and won’t remove it. A Morrow
County sheriff’s deputy responded and took a report.
11 p.m. — A resident at Green Acres RV Park, 80542 Paterson
Ferry Road, Irrigon, reported someone broke into her trailer and
stole welding equipment and perhaps other items.
DISSOLUTIONS
Charles Randall “Randy” Bohanan, 71, of Irrigon,
died Jan. 4, 2022, at his home. He was born June 18,
1950, in Salinas, California, the son of Charles and Mar-
grett (Dunson) Bohanan. A celebration of life with mili-
tary honors was held Saturday, March 19, 11 a.m. at the
Family Worship Center, Irrigon. Arrangements are with

11:53 p.m. — A 911 caller at Northwest Crane, 81342 Liberty
Lane, Hermiston, reported a burglary. Umatilla County sher-
iff’s deputies responded.
12:44 p.m. — A man called Hermiston police to talk to an offi-
cer regarding his ex-girlfriend being stalked and becoming a
victim of identity theft.
1:48 p.m. — A resident on Northeast Seventh Street, Irrigon,
made a complaint about people living in a camp trailer in a
driveway who yell and fight throughout the night. The caller
also said a lot of traffic speeds through the area.

SUNDAY, MARCH 20
4:12 p.m. — A woman came into the Hermiston Police Depart-
ment, 330 S. First St., asking to speak to an officer. She stated
she wants to purchase a handgun and wants to know if the
agency knows of any training classes she could take. A staff
member advised her.
5:47 p.m. — A 911 caller on Southwest Sage Drive, Hermiston,
reported there is a man out of control who has come after the
residents and is wandering around the house in back. Police
responded.

• Boardman police arrested Jose Antonio Romero for driving
while suspended and DUII.

Wally Hartsteen, 66, of Echo, died March 17, 2022,
at his home. He was born March 28, 1955 in Djarkata,

Rodney Bruce Mruk
September 21, 1954 - March 17, 2022
Rodney Bruce Mruk of
Hermiston was born Sept. 21, 1954,
in Oak Park, Illinois, the son of
George and Emilie (Simek) Mruk.
On Thursday March 17, 2022, at
the age of 67, he went home to be
with his Lord and Savior, Jesus
Christ
Rodney spent his childhood in
Cary, Illinois, where he attended
school and graduated from high school. After high
school, he attended Lake Forest College where he met
Linda, his future wife. He worked as a general contractor
in the Chicago area for the first 25 years of his career. In
the mid-1990s, he felt God’s calling and began attending
the Lutheran School of Theology in Chicago. He was
ordained as a minister in 2000 and began his ministry at
Messiah Lutheran Church in Havre, Montana. In 2004,
he was called to Hermiston, Oregon, where he served
as the minister at Trinity Lutheran Church until July of
2021.
Rodney loved backpacking with his dog, Hunter,
and the two had many adventures throughout the United
States. His faith, church and family were the most
important parts of his life.
Rodney married Linda Berglund in Glenwood,
Illinois, on July 24, 1976.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Linda;
children, Michael Mruk, Daniel (Katy) Mruk, Allison
Mruk, Kimberly Mruk and Amanda Mruk; two
granddaughters, Isabelle and Emily; sister, Darlyn
(Dan) Kofoed; brother, Scott (Doreen) Mruk; and many
nieces and nephews and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two
sisters, Kathy and Terry.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday
March 29, 2022, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 485 W.
Locust Ave., Hermiston, Oregon. Burns Mortuary of
Hermiston is in care of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be
made to Trinity Lutheran Church in Rodney’s memory.
