Richard D. ‘Rich’ Broadbent
5:57 a.m. — A 911 caller reported smoke was inside Irrigon
Junior/Senior High School, 315 S.E. Wyoming Ave., Irrigon.
8:04 a.m. — Hermiston police found graffi ti at several sites,
starting with South Highway 395, then on Southeast Second
Street and at 11:58 p.m., police took a report for graffi ti at
McKenzie Park at West Orchard Avenue and South First Street.
1:04 p.m. — A car crash occurred between two vehicles at Fast
Mart, 821 Sixth St., Umatilla. There were people with injuries,
and police took a report.
4:57 p.m. — A caller reported driving on Highway 74, Ione,
when another vehicle at about 3:30 p.m. hit theirs and then
almost struck a fl agger. The Morrow County Sheriff ’s Offi ce is
investigating.
8:44 p.m. — A 911 caller reported a theft had just occurred on
South Highway 395 in Hermiston. Umatilla County sheriff ’s
deputies responded.
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 9
8:45 a.m. — Hermiston police received a complaint about
child abuse or neglect.
12:27 p.m. — Hermiston police responded to Southwest
Ninth Street on a report of a fi ght. Police took a report.
2:43 p.m. — Hermiston police issued a citation for minor in
possession of alcohol and/or tobacco.
8:36 p.m. — A 911 caller reported a fi ght on Southwest 13th
Place, Hermiston.
THURSDAY, MARCH 10
6:30 a.m. — Hermiston police responded to a 911 call for a
domestic disturbance on the 200 block of Southwest Sixth
Street.
2:03 p.m. — An Irrigon resident asked the Morrow County
Sheriff ’s Offi ce to check on a package that was coming to her
home while she was not there. A deputy checked and told the
caller the package was in the mailbox.
11:37 p.m. — A resident at Port View Apartments, 320 Co-
lumbia Ave. N.E., Boardman, reported someone was trying to
break into her apartment. Boardman police responded and
found people went to the wrong door.

SATURDAY, MARCH 12
1:10 a.m. — Stanfi eld police initiated activity at West Wood
Avenue on a report of domestic disturbance.
8:10 a.m. — Hermiston police responded to the 300 block
of North First Street on a report of a burglary. Police took a
report.
4:09 p.m. — A caller at Raymond Street and Dean Avenue
in Umatilla made a complaint about fi reworks in the area.
Law enforcement was unable to locate anyone setting off
fi reworks.
4:23 p.m. — A Stanfi eld police offi cer at North Main Street and
Rosalynn Drive cleared boxes and garbage that were causing
a traffi c hazard.
9:29 p.m. — A resident on West Eighth Road, Irrigon, reported
something, possibly a raccoon, was attacking their chickens,
and her husband will shoot it if he needs to.
11:00 p.m. — Stanfi eld police assisted other responding emer-
gency agencies with a house fi re on West Locust Street.
SUNDAY, MARCH 13
12:39 a.m. — A 911 caller at Umatilla River Road and Cooney
Lane, Hermiston, reported an intoxicated subject. Law en-
forcement responded.
3:02 a.m. — A caller using the Bank of Eastern Oregon, 279 N.
Main St., Heppner, reported he found a bank card in the cash
machine. A Morrow County sheriff ’s deputy responded.
12:14 p.m. — A caller at Irrigon City Hall, 500 N.E. Main Ave.,
reported seeing sleeping bags and some beer bottles at Divi-
sion Road and Main under the awning.
1:28 p.m. — A resident on Northwest Oregon Avenue, Irrigon,
reported the neighbor’s dog came into the yard and went af-
ter her 11-year-old son. The boy was not injured, and she said
the dog belongs to people who recently moved in. A Morrow
County sheriff ’s deputy talked to both parties and warned the
dog’s owner.
5:20 p.m. — A resident on Southwest Nevada Avenue, Irrigon,
reported his neighbor has three bulls that keep getting out.
The caller asked the Morrow County Sheriff ’s Offi ce to send a
deputy to talk to him and the neighbor about this.
5:23 p.m. — Umatilla County sheriff ’s deputies responded to
a 911 call for a domestic disturbance on Bridgeport Avenue in
Umatilla.
7:17 p.m. — Hermiston police responded to the 300 block of
Northwest 11th Street on a report of an assault.

Joel Ray Moses, 51, of Stanfi eld, died March 9, 2022,
in Richland, Washington. He was born Sept. 22, 1970, in
Hermiston. A graveside service will be Friday, March 18,

Scott A. Tassie of Hermiston, Oregon,
was born on July 19, 1966, in Hermiston,
Oregon, to parents Ralph and Faye Corum
Tassie. He died on March 7, 2022, in
Hermiston, Oregon, at the
age of 55 years.
Scott
was
raised
and
attended
schools
in Hermiston, Oregon,
graduating from Hermiston
High School in the class
of 1984. At the age of 19,
he owned and operated the
Hermiston Texaco Station
on Hermiston Avenue before
going to work with his dad
at Desert Security. He later
owned and operated Desert
Security for several years.
Scott went to work as a dispatcher for
Umatilla County on June 1, 1999. He
proudly dedicated his life to service to
Umatilla County for over 22 years until
the time of his passing as a sergeant in the
Communications Division.
Scott was united in marriage to Kerry
Kasper on June 2, 2015, in Coeur d’
Alene, Idaho. He had been a member of
the Hermiston Eagles Lodge No. 2909.
Scott was an avid Seattle Seahawks fan,
Mariners fan, Tri-City Americans fan and
enjoyed going to watch the Seattle Kraken
hockey team play in both Seattle and Las
Vegas. He enjoyed traveling, playing cards,
occasional projects around the house and
loved husky and German shepherd dogs.
He is survived by his beloved wife,
Kerry Tassie, Hermiston, Oregon; mother,
Faye Hamman, and her husband, Mike,
Hermiston,
Oregon;
stepdaughters,
Stephanie Kasper and Kristina Kasper,
both of Hermiston, Oregon;
and Jessica (Martin) Hayden,
and her husband, Troy,
Gresham, Oregon; brothers,
Kevin Tassie, and wife,
June, Hermiston, Oregon;
and Rick Tassie, and wife,
Dana, Hermiston, Oregon;
nieces, Krissy Cunningham
and Nicole (Blake) Graham;
nephew,
Matt
Tassie;
great nephews, Axel and
Wyatt Tassie; and several
aunts, uncles and cousins.
Although Scott did not have
children of his own, he was a loving and
strong father figure to many that needed
him throughout his life.
Scott was preceded in death by his
father, Ralph Tassie.
A celebration of life with honors will be
held on Friday, March 18, 2022, from 3-6
p.m. at the Hermiston Community Center,
415 S. Highway 395, Hermiston, Oregon.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in
Scott’s memory may be made to the
Umatilla County Search and Rescue, c/o
