FALL BAZAAR SEASON
GETS UNDERWAY
LA GRANDE — The American
Legion Auxiliary Unit 43 will be
having its Fall Bazaar at 301 Fir
St., La Grande, on Saturday, Oct.
23. All are welcome to stop by
between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. for
treasures and treats.
HELIX HALLOWEEN FEST
FEATURES FAMILY FUN
ON OCT. 31
HELIX — People are invited
to come have fun in Helix on
Halloween.
The Helix Pub & Market is
hosting the Helix Halloween
Fest Sunday, Oct. 31, 1-5 p.m.
at 206 Concord St. The pub will
be serving up a barbecue, brats
and sauerkraut. Also, live music
will feature Scott Wilson.
In addition, the outdoor fun
includes hayrides, barrel train
rides, cornhole games and
activities for the kids. Trick or
treating around town will begin
after the event. For questions,

LIBRARY HOSTS ‘MERRY
TALES OF ROBIN HOOD
LA GRANDE — On Friday,
Oct. 22, the Traveling Lantern
Theatre Co. presents a free
performance of “The Merry
Tales of Robin Hood” at 3 p.m. in
the Community Room at Cook
Memorial Library, 2006 Fourth
St., La Grande. This story is “the
exuberant tale of intrepid Robin
Hood and his Merry Men, who
are ever jauntily escaping from
the clutches of the ill-disposed
Sheriff of Nottingham,” accord-
ing to www.travelinglantern.com.
LHS HOMECOMING WEEK
ENDS WITH FRIDAY
PARADE AT 5 P.M.
LA GRANDE — La Grande
High School’s fall Homecoming
Week is Oct. 18-22. The com-
munity is encouraged to come
out and support the Tigers by
attending the games and enjoy-
ing the parade. There are two
more games this week: Thurs-
day, Oct. 21, varsity football vs.
Ontario, at 6 p.m.; and Friday,
Oct. 22, volleyball vs. Ontario,
at 4 p.m. The week of festivities
culminates with the Homecom-
ing Parade on Friday, Oct. 22,
beginning at 5 p.m., along Ad-
ams Avenue from Globe Furni-
ture to Max Square.

community-oriented events in

birthday club.
An ongoing pumpkin deco-
rating contest concludes with
judging on Saturday, Oct. 23.
And, the weekend of Oct. 30-31
brings a Halloween Tea Party
with three seatings each day.

a free program put on by OSU
Extension for children in third
through fi fth grade, is being held
on Wednesdays at the Cath-
erine Creek Community Center,
667 N. Main St., from 3:30-
4:30 p.m. Participants will learn
how to make a diff erent snack
each week. The program runs

LA GRANDE — La Grande
Main Street Downtown will be
presenting the annual Down-
town Trick-or-Treat this year on
Friday, Oct. 29, from 4-6 p.m.
Downtown streets will be closed
to traffi c — Adams Avenue
from Third Street to Greenwood
Street and all side streets from
Washington to Jeff erson — to
provide a safe and exciting
environment for kids to gather
up loads of candy. A costume
contest takes place at the
corner of Adams and Depot at
5:30 p.m., with prizes for the
best costumes in diff erent age
categories.

WATCH FOR THE WITCH
IN JOSEPH
JOSEPH — Trick-or-treaters
are invited to the annual Watch
for the Witch Halloween event
in downtown Joseph. From the
Stubborn Mule to the Blythe
Cricket, look for pictures of
a witch, decorated by local
students, to identify participat-
ing businesses. Then step in for
some treats, take pictures and
say thank you to the merchants.
This year it’s happening on Sat-
urday, Oct. 30, from 3-5 p.m.
