L A GRANDE — Students re- turned to the Eastern Oregon University campus on Sept. 20 for the 92nd academic year, and Homecoming is right around the corner with several events, including the traditional parade on Friday, Oct. 8. Area businesses and organiza- tions are invited to join students, faculty and staff in the parade. Visit www.eou.edu/alumni/home- coming and click “Homecoming Parade” to download the applica- tion. Return the completed form to University Advancement in Inlow Hall 212 before 5 p.m. on Oct. 8. Lineup is at 4:15 p.m. on the corner of Fourth Street and Jeff erson Avenue. Festivities continue with a fun run/walk on Saturday, and multiple athletic events Saturday and Sunday. with Jer Pratton, Dixie Lund Ser- vice Award recipient, and Bob Stubbs, honorary alumnus. Also, the 1980 baseball team will be inducted into EOU’s Ath- letics Hall of Fame. In-person attendance is limited. EOU HOMECOMING RUN/ WALK: OCT. 9 The run and walk to celebrate Homecoming is Saturday, Oct. 9. Registration opens at 7:30 a.m., and the race starts at 8 a.m. The run begins at the Hoke Union Building on EOU and continues through downtown La Grande. Choose your distance: 1 mile; 5K run or walk; 10K run. Entry is $20 per person. Cash or check only. Finish the race back at Hoke The weekend includes a number of athletic contests.
