According to a press release,
Somoskey teaches courses in
painting and drawing. As a 2-D
mixed media artist and painter,
she uses representational and
abstract methods as well as
recognizable surfaces and digital
imagery to urge her viewers
to slow down and experience
the sensation her complex
work evokes.
“Art at the Crossroads” will be
on display Sept. 3-25, Monday
through Saturday from 10 a.m.-
5 p.m.
ROYAL ARTISAN
Baker City artist Hillery Lay
will open her show “Satellites” at
Royal Artisan Gallery, 1912 Main
St. An opening reception begins
at 5:30 p.m. Friday.

She describes her approach
on her website: “I create art-
work rooted in my place and my
people. Blending nature with
human figures and abstracting
both elements allows me to tell
the story of my contemporary
rural life.”

by Mary Sue Rightmire in a show
