Wallowa County Fair begins with rodeo Aug. 6

NTERPRISE — The Wallowa
County Fair starts Friday,
Aug. 6, for a week of competi-
tion for local 4-H and FFA club
members.
This year the fun begins
with the junior rodeo on Fri-
day and Saturday, Aug. 6 and
7, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the
fairgrounds arena. Come cheer
on your favorite cowboys and
cowgirls.
Saturday is the dog show,
starting at 9 a.m., where 4-H
kids and their dogs vie for rib-
bons in obedience, costume
and an obstacle course.
Sunday, Monday and Tues-
day — Aug. 8-10 — 4-H eques-
trians compete in a variety of
English and Western style riding
competitions. The horse awards
ceremony is Tuesday at 7 p.m.
On Monday morning, from
8 a.m. to noon, open class
non-perishable entries will be
accepted at Cloverleaf Hall.
Clothing, food and static exhib-
its from 4-H members will be
accepted from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Tuesday open class perish-
able entries will be accepted at
Cloverleaf Hall from 8 a.m. to
noon. Commercial exhibit set-
up is between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.
On Wednesday Cloverleaf
Hall opens at 10 a.m. Coloring
contest entries will be displayed
from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Livestock entries dominate
the rest of the week’s activi-
ties starting with weigh-ins on
Wednesday. FFA ag mechanics,
crops and wool entries will be
accepted at the Show Barn at
6 p.m.
Thursday events are the
beef market and breeding
at 8:30 a.m., swine market at
9 a.m., sheep and goat market
and breeding at 2 p.m. and
grand market champion classes
for beef, sheep, swine and goat
at 6 p.m.
Also on Thursday, on the Clo-
verleaf sidewalk, Wallowa Coun-
ty Farmers Market vendors will
have an array of products from
produce to jewelry, prepared

food, crafts and gifts.
On Friday the small animal
show is in the tent by the small
animal barn starting at 8:30 a.m.
Swine showmanship is at 9 a.m.
in the barn, beef showmanship
is outside at 11 a.m. and sheep
and goat showmanship is at
3 p.m. All-around showmanship
is at 7 p.m. in the sale barn and a
team roping competition will be
in the arena.
Friday on the Cloverleaf side-
walk will be a display of antique
tractors and cars.
Saturday is family day and
begins at 8 a.m. with the live-
stock judging contest. PeeWee
Showmanship is at 10 a.m. and
games on the grass begin at
11 a.m. The FFA barbecue is at
1 p.m. Saturday followed by the
livestock sale at 3 p.m.

education and food vendors are
welcome Aug. 6 and 7 and Aug.
