MISSION — Kelsey Burns, a
Cayuse, Nez Perce, and Crow
enrolled tribal member of the
Confederated Tribes of the Uma-
tilla Indian Reservation, will lead
a drumstick workshop Saturday,
Aug. 7, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at
Crow’s Shadow Institute of the
Arts, 48004 St. Andrews Road,
Mission. The registration fee is
$10.
AUGUST 4–11, 2021
CMA and ACM awards — will
give a special acoustic perfor-
mance at Silvies Valley Ranch
Resort on Sunday, Aug. 8. The
audience is limited to 200
guests.
A package including dinner
and the concert is $100 per
person. This includes the per-
formance, a barbecue dinner,
three drink tickets and patrolled
parking. Two-night stay concert
packages are also available at
the resort, 10000 Rendezvous
Lane, Seneca (north of Burns).

JOSEPH — The Back Country
Bash — a weekend of Ameri-
can/Red Dirt music — happens
Friday and Saturday, Aug. 6-7, in
Joseph. The weekend includes
two nights of music, optional
onsite camping, vendors, and an
After Party Breakfast — all at the
Harley Tucker Memorial Rodeo
Grounds.
The gates open at 4:30 p.m.
and the music begins at 5:30

years, will teach participants
how to assemble a drumstick
out of buckskin, electric tape
and duct tape. As a finishing
touch, participants will use yarn
to decorate their drumsticks. To

SENECA — The band Shenan-
doah — winners of Grammy,
PENDLETON — The annual
free Rock & Roll Camp for teens
celebrates its 16th year Aug.
9-13 at the Pendleton Center
for the Arts, 214 N. Main St.
The camp is run by
Director Addison Schulberg and
camp counselors, many who
are musicians from throughout
the Pacific Northwest.
Open to ages 13-18, ses-
sions will include making music,
songwriting, singing, music
journalism and more.
Unvaccinated camp-
ers will have access to outdoor
sessions only, based on in-
structor availability. The camp
ends with an outdoor concert
on the final day on Pendleton’s
Main Street.

LEARN THE ART OF BOOK
FOLDING AUG. 9
BAKER CITY — Tori Vinson
Whiting will teach a technique
of book folding in a work-
shop on Monday, Aug. 9, from
6–8 p.m. at Crossroads Carn-
egie Art Center, 2020 Auburn
Ave., Baker City. This is for ages
12 and older, although children
as young as 8 can attend with a
paid adult.
Participants will learn how to
use a book, ruler and pencil to
transform a simple book into a
piece of art. Cost is $16 mem-
bers, $24 nonmembers. Regis-
