3, 2021, at her home. She was born April 18, 1954, in
Michoacan, Mexico. Recitation of the rosary was held
Friday, May 7, at 1 p.m., followed by Mass of Chris-
tian Burial at 1:30 p.m., at Our Lady of Angels Catho-
lic Church in Hermiston. Burial followed at the Herm-
iston Cemetery. Burns Mortuary of Hermiston is in

Bikers rev up
for motorcycle
awareness run
A motorcycle event to
raise awareness and money
for BikerDown is planned
in Morrow and Umatilla
counties..
With the nice weather
upon us, people are encour-
aged to watch out for an
increase in motorcyclists
on the road. BikerDown
also strives to create a pro-
active riding culture to help
maintain safety.
The Look Twice, Save
a Life Run is Sunday,
May 16 starting from Smi-
ley’s Happy Place, 102
Boardman Ave., Board-
man. Registration begins at
10:30 a.m. and kickstands
are up at 11:30 a.m.
All motorcycles, cars
and trucks are welcome
to participate with a sug-
gested donation of $15.
Also, participants are
invited to arrive early as
Smiley’s will be serving
biscuits and gravy with all
proceeds going to the Bik-
erDown fund.
The ride will go through
Irrigon, Umatilla, Herm-
iston and Stanfi eld, where
participants will gather at
Bard Park for live music,
a bike show and prizes.
In addition, food will be
available from Becky’s
Burger Wagon.
BikerDown
was
founded in 2011 by Lau-
rie Easton-Montoya, who
was on a ride when sev-
eral bikers went down.
The nonprofi t organiza-
tion is dedicated to help-
ing bikers get through
tough times by providing
emotional support, fi nan-
cial assistance, medical
equipment and other ser-
vices as needed.

Musical acts tune
up for cystic fi brosis
fundraiser on May 15
Brewer’s Grade Band
and Soul Patch The Duo
will perform for the Breath
of Life fundraiser in
Hermiston.
The event is Saturday,
May 15, at 6 p.m. at Max-
well Pavilion, 145 N. First
Place, Hermiston. Tickets,
which are available at the
door, are $12 for adults and
$5 for kids ages 6 and up.
In addition to music and
dancing, there will be a live
auction and dessert. Also, a
food truck will be on-site
for purchases, and beer and
wine will be available.
Money raised from the
event will go to support
research for cystic fi bro-
sis. A genetic disease, it
causes the lungs to produce
a thick, sticky mucus. With
advances made through
research over the past 60
years, the life expectancy
of patients with the disease
has increased from age 5 to
more than 40.
