About 200 volunteers from
local churches came together
on Saturday, May 1, for the
annual spring I Love My City
event.
The program, started in
2016, provides days of free
service to the community. The
latest event included multiple
service projects. Volunteers
gave free car washes at Smit-
ty’s ACE Hardware, worked
on the landscaping along
Highway 395 and picked up
garbage in the downtown area
and along the railroad tracks.
The event, organized by
the churches, was open to
anyone who wanted to show
up Saturday morning and be
put to work. The participat-
ing churches also held a joint
worship service on Sunday,
May 2, outdoors in Butte Park
and live streamed online.
