COURT CHAPERONE - ALICE NEWMAN
For the 5th year in a row, the Umatilla County Fair Court will be guided and directed by longtime vo lunteer Alice Newman. Alice is a
Mother and Grandmother to three Fair Court Alumni and a 4-H leader and is deeply imbedded in our “co unty culture” especially
involving youth activities. Alice and her family have an extensive history of volunteerism for the U matilla County Fair and for Alice’s
part, she was named the Umatilla County Fair’s “2016 Female Volunteer of the Year”. She was surprise d by the honor at the Fair’s
Appreciation Dinner in January. In 2017, at the Hermiston Chamber of Commerce’ Distinguished Citizen s Award Banquet, she was
surprised once again with the “Merit of Honor” award for her involvement with the youth of Umatilla County through her volunteerism
with the fair, 4-H, FFA and the Hermiston Bulldogs. Alice’s leadership has opened many doors for the Fair Court and in-turn, has
managed to rally an entirely new level of support for the fair. She has tapped into new resources an d has made connections that will
forever benefit the Umatilla County Fair. Alice enjoys her leadership role with the Fair Court and m any young ladies have benefited
from her genuine attitude of support and her authentic devotion to the Umatilla County Fair.
