for Peri & Sons Farms of California, LLC in Firebaugh, CA. There are 3
temporary positions available. Workers will be required to assist in the
harvest of onions by performing the following duties: Workers must
operate a tractor with onion lifting equipment to lift the onions out of
the ground. Workers will operate a forklift to move full bins and load
the bins onto a flatbed truck for storage. Workers will also provide the
harvest crews with empty bins. Workers may transport crops and farm
equipment between growing sites and to storage. All other duties
assigned under this order will be those duties of Agricultural Equipment
Operators, under the Bureau of Labor Statistics Occupational Classification
Code 45-2091. Work may be performed during light rain and in windy
conditions and in temperatures in excess of 100° degrees F. Field work
is very dusty. Workers will be seated while operating equipment for
long periods of time. Workers will be required to walk in onion fields
and stoop to collect dropped onions. Applicants must have 30 days
verifiable experience in operating onion lifting farm equipment and
general knowledge of onion harvesting practices. The standard work
week is 8 hrs per day, Tuesday – Sunday. Hours of operation are set as a
split shift; 6am to 10am & 6pm to 10pm 6 days per week. Three quarter
of the hours in the contract period are guaranteed. Tools, supplies,
equipment provided by employer at no cost to the worker. No cost
housing will be provided for individual workers who cannot reasonably
return to their permanent residence at the end of the work day, no family
housing available. Reasonable transportation and subsistence expenses
to the worksite will be paid by the employer in the paycheck issued for
