A9 • HERMISTONHERALD.COM WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 26, 2018 Dear Readers, Since fi rst arriving in May to take the helm of the East Oregonian and its affi liated weekly newspapers — the Hermiston Herald, the Blue Mountain Eagle, and the Wallowa County Chieft ain — I have been at times mesmerized by, and in awe of, the natural landscape around us. From the fi elds of golden canola in Spring, acre aft er acre of waving wheat in early Summer, the sparkling waters of the Umatilla, John Day, Grand Ronde, Wallowa, Walla Walla, and the Columbia rivers, or the sight of fi rst snowfall covering Ponderosa pines high in the Blue Mountains, we are all truly blessed to live in such a diverse and beautiful place. I’ve also been privileged to work alongside a team of professionals who are dedicated to producing the best possible local news, features, and sports content on a daily basis. Whether in print, or online, the EO and it affi liates have been consistently named the top newspapers in Oregon, year aft er year. But even more important than a wall full of awards, is the everyday feedback we receive from you, our valued readers. Without you, we would not be here. As 2018 draws to a close and we prepare for what is yet to come in 2019, I extend my personal thanks to each and every one of you who await your newspaper in the mailbox, or purchase a copy at the grocery store, or log onto any one of our four newspaper websites to be informed about your community, state and world. Our New Year’s resolution is to continue to bring you timely, quality local information that you can use in your every day life. Like you, we’re dedicated to Eastern Oregon and its continued growth and success into the future. From all of us here at your local newspaper, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a very happy New Year!
