We said our last
goodbye this week
as our mom, Joan
George,
slipped
away on a quiet jour-
ney home after liv-
ing with cancer
for two years. She
leaves behind nine George
grieving
children,
many grandchildren and
great-grandchildren,
plus
extended family.
Mom was born July 7,
1932, in Cozad, Nebraska,
the second of four daugh-
ters. The family moved west
to Umatilla then Walla Walla
and our tomboy mom lived
family life adven-
turously during the
Prohibition era, the
Great
Depression
and WWII. She mar-
ried our dad, Mack
George, in 1951 and
thus began adven-
tures of another kind.
She said she always
wanted a dozen children and
she came close.
Along with raising her
family, Mom also traveled
to various, semi-remote
locations with our dad who
worked a construction crew,
which provided power lines
and substations through-

age of 72 years.
Soilo was raised
and lived in Mexico Garcia
until moving to Cal-
ifornia in 1979. He moved
to the Umatilla-Hermiston,
Oregon, area where he has
lived since.
Soilo worked as a truck
driver for his whole career.
He has owned and oper-
ated GM trucking, an agri-
cultural trucking com-
pany, until the time of his
death.
Soilo enjoyed horses,
horse racing and raising
cattle.
He is survived by his

Clara (Stevens) Sansburn.
She passed away
near Hermiston on
October 8, 2018, at
the age of 86.

ton, for a short time
