TIME CAPSULE
Our town
On Saturday, Sept. 8, 2018, a time capsule will be sealed
for burial at the Harkenrider Senior Center, to be opened
in 2068.
Here are a few snapshots of life in Hermiston in 2018.

several large events hosted in Hermiston, including the Umatilla County Fair, Cinco
de Mayo and Funfest.

The Hermiston Bulldogs football team stands for the national anthem before a home
football game at Kennison Field during the 2017 season. Hermiston won the Oregon
Schools Athletics Association football championship that season, then joined the
Washington Interscholastic Athletics Association and a league of teams from the
Tri-Cities because the school district had outgrown others in Eastern Oregon.

Hermiston sophomore Jenna Wallace teaches a class about the life cycle of a

Hermiston. There are five elementary schools, two middle schools and one high
school in Hermiston, and an enrollment of 5,645 students in 2017-18.

The farmers market found its new home on First Street across from the new
Maxwell Siding Event Center in 2018 after previous seasons at McKenzie Park and
on Second Street near City Hall.
