Hermiston junior golfer headed
to Salem championship
By BRETT KANE
STAFF WRITER
Hermiston athlete Colby
Lerten, 11, will take his golf-
ing skills to Salem.
Lerten claimed first place
at the Oregon Junior Golf
Tournament at Wildhorse
on Friday August 10 with a
score of 44, and again in La
Grande the next day with a
score of 49.
Lerten has been playing
golf since he was three years
old.
“He’s been swinging
things like they were golf
clubs ever since he could
walk,” said his father Kris.
Lerten will compete at the
Charlotte’s Tournament of
Champions at the Creekside
Golf Club in Salem on Satur-
day, September 8.
