Joanne M. Coburn, 83, of Hermiston died Monday,
April 9, 2018, in Richland, Wash. She was born Feb. 6,
1935, in Wilsonville, Ore.
A celebration of life gathering will be held Satur-
day, April 14 at 2 p.m. at the Panda Inn, 675 N. First St.,

Kasari was born August 27,
1922, in Reedley, Califor-
nia, to Jacob B. and Jennie
Sakrison Kasari. The family
moved to Umatilla
County when Bob
was 8 months old. He
graduated from Stan-
field High School in
1941.
He joined the
United States Navy
in June of 1942 and Kasari
served until February
of 1946 when he was
honorably discharged
as a yeoman second
class. He served his
entire naval time in
the South Pacific. He
was on the subma-
rine USS Searaven Kasari
and then the aircraft
carrier USS Sitkoh
Bay.
Bob
married
Mildred
Pome-
roy December 11,
1949. He always
wanted to farm and had pur-
chased 56 acres in Colum-
bia District east of Hermis-
ton, Oregon. At the time of
his marriage he was working
in construction on McNary
Dam on the Columbia River.
He sold the farm and the
family moved to Idaho for
10 months, finally settling on
a farm on Buttercreek where
the Kasari family grew to
include two girls and two
boys. He also bought a pas-
ture farm at Nolan.
Bob worked hard farming
and was Umatilla County
Soil Conservation Man of
the Year in 1961. He would
haul shavings to the feedlots
and bale straw in the sum-
mer time to sell to provide
for his growing family. His
family was so precious to
him and he so enjoyed their
school activities. He was
a 4-H leader as he helped
kids interested in livestock.
Eventually the family sold
their Echo property and
moved to Stanfield.
Bob bought the Zivney
Farm Supply in 1973. He

8:10 a.m. — A caller on Northeast
11th Street reported to Hermiston
Police that her husband keeps inter-
fering with her parenting time.
7:41 p.m. — A man on Southeast
Third Street, Hermiston, yelled that
he was going to kill himself, but he
was not armed.
9:04 a.m. — A suicidal subject
was reported at East Beebe Avenue,
Hermiston.
10:15 a.m. — A caller on North
First Place said her storage unit had
been broken into and many items
were taken.
2:55 p.m. — A suicidal subject
was reported at West Brock Avenue,
Hermiston.
WEDNESDAY,
APRIL 4
2:35 a.m. — Shots fired were
reported at Northeast 10th Street
and East Theater Lane.
11:44 a.m. — A male and a
female were physically fighting at
Northeast Sixth Place in Hermiston.
5:51 p.m. — In the parking lot
on North First Street in Hermis-
ton, a vehicle was running and a
child was alone in the car. The car
was a burgundy four-door sedan,
unknown make or model. The car
was gone when officers arrived.
8:28 p.m. — Shots fired were
reported on East Browning Avenue,
Hermiston.
SUNDAY, APRIL 8
8:25 a.m. — A suicidal subject
was reported at West Highland Ave-
nue, Hermiston.
3:52 p.m. — A man was arrested
for interfering with a peace offi-
cer at the Hermiston Police
Department.
Monday, April 9
3:38 p.m. — A woman reported
someone had entered her unlocked
vehicle and stolen her tablet, val-
ued at $125.
4:39 p.m. — A woman reported
someone on Elm Avenue was driv-
ing a vehicle they were not allowed
to be driving due to their diversion
program.
6:36 p.m. — Someone on North-
east Second Street in Hermiston
reported three dogs tried to bite
their daughter.
10:15 p.m. — A domestic distur-
bance was reported on Southwest
Sandy Drive, Hermiston.
THURSDAY,
APRIL 5
4:03 p.m. — At the Bottle Drop
on West Hermiston Avenue, an
employee said two subjects are hid-
ing under a semi trailer.
FRIDAY, APRIL 6
2:35 a.m. — A runaway was
reported at East Sandstone Avenue,

tomers and the friends he
made.
As Bob’s health
started declining he
moved to Fort Col-
lins, Colorado, in
March of 2014 to
be closer to family.
He entered a demen-
tia unit October 30,
2017, and passed
away five months
later on April 2, 2018.
Bob is survived
by his wife Mildred,
his daughter Kay
DeLeon
(Rickey),
his son Tom (Ellen),
daughter
Connie
Kasari (Jim) and
son Brent (Heather).
He loved his six grandchil-
dren, RJ and Jacob
Deleon, Caitlin and
Jack McCracken,
and Matthew and
Megan Kasari. He
is
also very proud of
his six great-grandchildren.
If his life could be sum-
marized in a few words, it
would be he was a wonder-
ful son, husband, parent and
all-round caring family man.
Bob is the last of his
Kasari generation. He was
predeceased by his parents,
brothers George and Wil-
liam, and sisters Jeannette
and Eleanor. He is also the
final member of his seven
classmates of Stanfield
High, class of 1941.
In lieu of flowers, those
who wish may make a con-
tribution to the Alzheimer’s
Association.
A funeral service will be
held on Saturday, April 14,
2018, at 11 a.m. at Burns
Mortuary chapel, Hermis-
ton, Oregon. Burial will fol-
low at Pleasant View Ceme-
tery, Stanfield, Oregon.

Jesse Richard Poland
was born December 28,
1932, in Willow Springs,
Missouri, the son of
William and Ruth
(Cooper)
Poland.
He died on Saturday,
March 31, 2018, in
Hermiston at the age
of 85.
As a child, Jesse
traveled extensively Poland
with his family until
settling in Oregon
in the late 1940s.
He served in both
the U.S. Navy and
the U.S. Army
and served during
the Korean Con-
flict. He resided in the com-
munities of Milton-Freewa-
ter, Pendleton and Umatilla
before moving to Hermis-
ton in 2014.
He worked at several
jobs in Umatilla County
before being hired by the
postal service in Pendleton.
He worked as a postal car-
rier and later as a clerk at
the Pendleton post office for
a combined 23 years, retir-
ing in the late 1990s.
Jesse loved playing
his guitar for church, in a
band or just to entertain his
friends. He also enjoyed
working on cars and loved
his pets.
Jesse married Marilyn
“Joanne” Garrett in Pendle-
ton on June 1, 1957.
He is survived by
his wife of nearly
61 years, Marilyn
“Joanne”
Poland;

Lon “Bob” Dean Car-
don passed away peacefully
April 9, 2018, at his home.
Bob was born September
17, 1930, in Ely, Nevada, the
oldest son of Eman-
uel Alonzo Cardon
and Thelma Warren.
His family moved to
Camas when he was a
baby and then to Van-
couver, Wash., during
WWII.
He attended Van- Cardon
couver High School
and Clark College.
He met his wife Donna Hall
at a neighborhood party.
They were married in Van-
couver, Wash., on June 16,
1950.
Bob and Donna spent
most of their lives in Van-
couver where he owned Car-
don’s Foodland. Bob was a
member of the Elks and a
former exalted ruler.
Bob enjoyed gardening,
fishing, camping, bowling,
and golfing.
They built a house in
Ocean Shores, Wash., where
he enjoyed spending time at
the beach and having fam-
ily come visit. Bob will be
remembered for his belly
flops into the pool and the
outrageous stories he would
tell.
After Bob retired, he
and Donna moved to Stan-
field, Ore., where they made
many wonderful friends.
He served in his church in
numerous capacities and dil-
igently helped those around
him.
He is survived by
his wife of 67 years,
Donna; brother Ken-
neth (Ina) Cardon;
daughters

(Gary) Adams of
Vancouver, Wash.,
and Sandie (Lu)
Morse of Stanfield,
Ore.; five grandchil-
dren; 20 great-grand-
