Student arrested for threat
The Hermiston Police
Department arrested a mid-
dle school student Tuesday
for first degree disorderly
conduct after a classmate
overheard him saying he
was going to shoot some-
body in the head.
According to Lt. Randy
Studebaker, the uniden-
tified male student was
overhead at Armand Lar-
ive Middle School on Fri-
day making a generalized
threat of violence, though
he didn’t identify a tar-
get. A student reported the
threat to staff, who passed
it on to Hermiston Police.
The suspected student
and his family cooperated
with the investigation and
allowed police to search
their property, and officers
determined there was no
evidence he was planning
an act of violence. They
suspect he made the threat
for attention.
The student was lodged
in the Umatilla County
Juvenile Department.
