Agricultural Equipment Oper-
ators wanted February 15 to
April 10, 2018 for Peri & Sons
Farms of California, LLC in
Firebaugh, CA. There are 8
temporary positions available.
Work duties will include, but
not be limited to operating
farm equipment to prepare
agricultural ground and seed
beds, plant, grow, cultivate,
fertilize, and harvest the on-
ion crop. Ground prepara-
tion includes ground leveling,
disking fields, ripping fields,
using land planes, and chisel
plowing fields. Bed prepara-
tion for onion crop production
includes listing, mulching, and
seed bed preparation. Work-
ers will be required to apply
fertilizers and chemicals with
farm equipment, such as
spray rigs, as necessary to
grow the crop. Workers may
be required to move, install, or
remove irrigation equipment,
such as pipe and drip tape,
incidental to the preparation
of agricultural land and the
harvest of the onion crop, and
perform scheduled irrigation,
chemical and fertilizer appli-
cation to the fields. Workers
may also be required to per-
form work, on the farm, that is
incidental to farming the on-
ion crop, such as performing
hand cultivation and weeding
or hoeing of the onion crop.
All other duties assigned un-
der this order will be those
duties of Agricultural Equip-
ment Operators, under the
Bureau of Labor Statistics
Occupational Classification
Code 45-2091. Worker must
be able to lift and/or move
20-50 pounds. Work may be
performed during light rain
and in windy conditions and
in temperatures in excess
of 100° degrees F. Workers
will be seated while operating
equipment for extended pe-
riods of time. The standard
work week is 9 hrs per day,
Monday-Friday and 5 hrs on
Saturday and Sunday. Work-
ers may be requested to work
up to 10 hours per day when
weather conditions, growing
conditions, crop conditions,
or other factors require as de-
termined by the Grower, Farm
Manager or Farm Supervisor.
Workers may be offered work
on federal holidays and on
their Sabbath but will not be
required to do so. Three quar-
ter of the hours in the contract
period are guaranteed. Tools,
supplies, equipment provid-
ed by employer at no cost to
the worker. No cost housing
will be provided for individual
workers who cannot reason-
ably return to their permanent
residence at the end of the
work day, no family housing
available. Reasonable trans-
portation and subsistence
expenses to the worksite will
be paid by the employer in the
paycheck issued for the work-
ers’ first pay period. Hour-
ly rate is $12.57. Interested
