Gary Dwayne Linn
Hermiston

Gary Dwayne
Linn, 69, of Herm-
iston passed away
on Sept. 4, 2017,
at Kadlec Region-
al Medical Center
in Richland, Washington. He
was born on Oct. 29,
1947, in Fort Scott,
Kansas, to Forrest and
Juanita Linn.
Gary served in the
United States Army
during the Vietnam
era. He married
Elaine J. Breedlove Linn
on Aug. 7, 1970.
Gary retired as an electri-
cian for Integrated Systems
of Portland.
He lived in the Tri-Cit-
ies for 11 months and was a
member of New Hope Com-
munity Church. He enjoyed
computers, reading
and spending time
with his family.
He is survived
by his wife; son
Jon (Christie) and
children J.R., Zach and Ma-
ria; and sons Jeremy
(Amy) and Joshua
(Angel) and children
David and Katie.
He is preceded in
death by his parents
Forrest and Juanita
Linn.
There will be a
celebration of life
on Sept. 20, 2017, at 2 p.m.
at Greater Portland Bible
Church in Portland.

Roger Kenneth Kooch
New Plymouth, Idaho
November 8, 1941 - September 9, 2017
Roger Kenneth
Kooch, 76, passed
away in his home
in New Plym-
outh, Idaho, on
Sept. 9, 2017, after
a three-year battle with lung
cancer. He was born
in Enterprise, Ore-
gon, on Nov. 8, 1941,
to Kenneth Burl
Kooch and Roanna
Locke Kooch.
He attended all
grades at the Enter-
prise School, gradu- Kooch
ating high school in
1959. He attended EOSC
in La Grande, Oregon, for
two years before transfer-
ring to U of I in Moscow,
Idaho. Roger married Julie
Davis in August 1964. They
both attended U of I where
they graduated June 1966.
He served in the Army Re-
serves.
Following college gradu-
ation, Roger took a job with
Farmers Home Adminis-
tration in Ontario, Oregon,
where he worked until the
following March (1967), at
which time he took the po-
sition of assistant manager/
grain buyer for the farm Co-
Op (Wallowa County Grain
Growers) in Enterprise,
where he worked until
1978. After that he ran the
ranch on Joseph Creek.
Two children were born
to the marriage: Kurt Roger
Kooch (Nampa, Idaho) and
Katrina LaRee Johnston
(New Plymouth, Idaho). In
1985, Roger moved to the
Hermiston area where he
spent the majority of the
remainder of his life. For
many years he then worked
at Pendleton Grain Growers
while running his
own herd of cattle.
Roger was pas-
sionate about any-
thing related to
livestock. He was
an extremely involved 4-H
and FFA member in
his youth and con-
tinued to be a huge
advocate of both
programs his entire
life. He thoroughly
enjoyed going for
drives,
attending
fairs, rodeos and
livestock auctions.
Roger was preceded in
death by his grandparents
and parents. He is survived
by his two younger brothers
Reid (Linda) of Enterprise
and Ross of Prineville, Or-
egon, as well as two nieces
and four nephews. He is also
survived by his son Kurt;
daughter Katrina (Gary)
Johnston;
granddaughter
Jessica Kooch of Pendleton;
and two grandsons, Clancy
and Caleb Johnston, who
both attend Boise State Uni-
versity.
A memorial service will
be held at 2 p.m. Saturday,
Sept. 16 at the Enterprise
First Baptist Church. A
graveside will follow at the
Alder Slope Cemetery. A
potluck will be held for all
friends and family follow-
ing the services at the home
of Julie Kooch, 83349 West
Dorrance Lane, Enterprise.
Table service, drinks, sand-
wiches, and chips will be
provided.

Shari Kay Schneider Alford
Hermiston
November 16, 1972 - September 2, 2017
Shari Kay Schneider Al-
ford was born on Nov. 16,
1972, in Hermiston, Oregon,
to parents Dennis and Shari
L. Moyer Schneider. She
passed away at home
on Sept. 2, 2017, in
Hermiston, Oregon,
at the age of 44 years.
Shari was raised
and attended schools
in Hermiston, Ore-
gon, graduating in the
class of 1991. She Alford
then attended Blue
Mountain Community Col-
lege where she earned her
degree as a dental assistant.
Shari was a member of
the Anchor Point Church
and was involved in Jobs
Daughters where she was a
past Honor Queen.
She enjoyed the moun-
tains, camping, playing
electronic games, staying in
touch with everyone through
her computer, trips to the
ocean and most of all cher-
ished time with her family
and friends.
She is survived by her son
Wyatt Alford, Ukiah, Ore-
gon; father Dennis Schnei-
der, Umatilla; sister Amy
Allstott (Mark), Kennewick,
Washington; brother Stac-
ey Schneider (Amy), Ken-
newick; grandmother Julia
Schneider, Hermiston; neph-
ews Josh, Brandon, Spencer
and Cole; niece Leia; and
numerous aunts, uncles and

Shari was preceded in
death by her mother Shari L.
Schneider, and grandparents
Raymond Schneider and

Moyer.
A celebration of
life service was held
on Monday, Septem-

Oregon. Burial will
follow at the Herm-
iston Cemetery, Hermiston,
Oregon.

Joyce L. Collins, 82, of
Hermiston passed away
on Friday, Septe. 8,
2017.
Joyce was born
Dec. 24, 1934, in
Weiser, Idaho, the
daughter of James
and Della (Macrae)
Hancock. She lived
in Huntington, Or- Collins
egon, as a child
where she attended school
and graduated from high
school.
Joyce married William
Fuzi on July 28, 1951, in
Baker, Oregon. From this
union two sons, Bill and
Tim, were born. The cou-
ple later divorced.
Joyce lived in many lo-
cations before moving to
Hermiston in 2008 to be
closer to her fam-
ily. She attended
the First Christian
Church in Hermis-
ton.
She is survived by
two sons, Bill Fuzi
of Hermiston and
Tim Fuzi of Irrigon;
three grandsons and
two granddaughters; and
four great-grandsons and
two great-granddaughters.
A graveside service will
be held at 1 p.m. on Fri-
day, Sept. 15, 2017, at the
Hermiston Cemetery.

Gary Powell,
74, of Umatilla
passed away on
Saturday morn-
ing, September
9, 2017.
Gary was born
October 19, 1942, in
Colorado Springs,
Colorado, the son
of Harold and Ireta
(Ransom) Powell.
During his child-
hood, he lived in
Boise, Idaho, Izee, Powell
Ore., and John
Day, Ore. He graduated
from Grant County High
School.
After high school, he
joined the U.S. Navy and
served during the Vietnam
era from 1961 through
1965. He then served his
electrical apprenticeship
through I.B.E.W. 112 and
worked throughout his ca-
reer as a journeyman elec-
trician in Eastern Oregon
and Southeast Washing-
ton.
Gary enjoyed fishing
and hunting, woodwork-
ing, going to the coast to
whale watch and
watching hum-
mingbirds.
Gary married
Jackie on De-
cember 12, 1978
in Reno, Nev.
He was preceded
in death by his par-
ents and two sisters,
Gerri and Diana.
He is survived
by his wife, Jackie;
sons John and wife
Ronda, Greg and
wife Jennifer, and
Andrew; five grandchil-
dren; five great-grandchil-
dren; and several nieces
and nephews.
A Celebration of Life
service will be at 10:00
a.m. Saturday, Septem-
ber 16, 2017, at Westside
Church of Christ, 2185 W.
Orchard Ave., Hermiston,
Ore.

Salem died Sunday, Sept. 3, 2017, in Salem. He was born

Marie Patricia “Pat”
Earle, of Irrigon, Ore-
gon, was born on Oct.
15, 1943, in Carbondale,
Pennsylvania, to parents
John and Muriel
Giblin. She died
on Aug. 19, 2017,
in Hermiston at the
age of 73 years.
She was raised
and
attended
schools in Mary-
land. Pat was unit- Earle
ed in marriage to
William “Bill” Earle on
Oct. 23, 1965, in Silver
Springs, Maryland. They
moved to Corvallis, Ore-
gon, and Pat earned her
bachelor’s degree in mi-
crobiology. In 1967, they
settled in the Hermiston
area where they have
lived since.
Along with raising
their three children, Pat
tended to the farm and
livestock and delivered
farm fresh eggs to sev-
eral area vendors. Pat
worked at Good Shep-
herd Medical Center in
Hermiston from 1998
until retirement in 2009.
She enjoyed sewing,
crafts, traveling, gar-
dening and flowers. Pat
loved to make special
gifts for her family and
friends. She was one of
the pioneers in establish-
ing a chapter of the ARC
in Eastern Oregon where
she served as president
and as an officer for
many years. She was an
active member of the
Country Church, and had
served on the Eastern
Oregon Mental Health
Board. Pat was very in-
dustrious with a
unbelievable work
ethic.
She is survived
by her husband

Tester, Annapolis, Mary-
