Shirley Flink was born
May 11, 1928, in Longview,
Washington, to Mr. and
Mrs. Gary M. Cobb. They
moved to Portland, Oregon,
when she was 13 months
old and she grew up there.
Shirley attended Wood-
stock Grade School and
graduated from Franklin
High School in June 1945.
She worked a year at West-
ern Union.
On May 25, 1946, Shir-
ley married Joseph John
Flink at Our Lady of Sor-
rows Church in Portland.
They lived in the Columbia
River Gorge for eight years
where their three children
were born.
In 1954, Joe was trans-
ferred to McNary Dam in
Umatilla, Oregon. Their
children grew up in Herm-
iston, Oregon. Shirley and
Joe were divorced in 1978.
Shirley was hired by
Battelle, Pacific Northwest
Laboratory until her re-
tirement. On July 1, 2006,
Shirley moved to The Royal
Columbian Assisted Living
in Kennewick, Washington,
then moved to Ruan’s Gar-
den in Kennewick.
Shirley was preceded in
death by her daughter, Ja-
clyn Jean Sievers, her par-
ents, a brother and a sister.
She is survived by her
son Ron Flink and his wife
Jane, and daughter Carla
Windham and her husband,
Chad. She is also survived
by her son-in-law Bart Siev-
ers and his wife, Susan. She
has five grandchildren, five
great-grandchildren
and
one great-great-grandchild.
Graveside services will
be held Monday, September
11, 2017, at 10 a.m., at Des-
ert Lawn Memorial Park,
1401 S. Union St., Kenne-
wick.

He graduated from
Hermiston High School in
1963 and worked for Union
Pacific Railroad until he re-
tired in 1998.
J.C. loved the moun-
tains, the outdoors, riding
four-wheelers and being
with his friends.
He is the loving father
of three children: Betty
Winkler, Rodney Halladay
and Darin Halladay. He has
seven grandchildren and
five great-grandchildren.
