Kenneth Nichols, 45, was driving eastbound on I-82 about 11 miles south of Kennewick near mile-     post 124, lost control of his vehicle and over-cor- rected to the right. His ve- hicle rolled. Nichols died at the scene. Nichols was wearing a seatbelt when the crash occurred. At this time, officers have not deter- mined the cause of the crash. Nichols’ next of kin have been notified. Woman jailed for assaulting her father A Hermiston woman fac- ing charges for a June bur- glary and police chase is in jail again, this time for as- saulting her father. The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Offi ce in a written statement reported deputies Saturday at about 5:50 a.m. responded to 78613 Echols Road near Hermiston to in- vestigate an emergency re- port of domestic violence. When deputies arrived, Tam- ar Drake, 40, of Hermiston, refused their orders to exit the house and instead made her way to her father, Steven Winn, 72. The deputies considered Winn to be in immediate dan- ger and forced their way into the house to stop Drake. She fought the depu- ties and bit deputy Nathan Rankin on his thumb, caus- ing a minor injury, according to the sheriff’s offi ce. Good Shepherd Medical Center, Hermiston, treated and re- leased Rankin. The sheriff’s offi ce report- ed the investigation showed Drake punched her father, pointed a fi rearm at Winn while threatening to kill him, American Legion Post 37, 45 W.
