Frank J. “Harkie” Harkenrider, 90, of Hermiston
died Monday, July 24, 2017 in Hermiston. He was
born Dec. 25, 1926, in Hermiston. Service are pend-
ing through Burns Mortuary of Hermiston and will be
posted at burnsmortuaryhermiston.com.

States Army Alvin L. “Al”
Sather, 82, of Hermiston,
Ore., passed away peace-
fully at Lourdes Medical
Center on July 15,
2017, with his fam-
ily by his side.
Al was born on
June 19, 1935, in
Malta,
Montana,
to parents Alvin O.
and Juanita Tatman
Sather. He was Sather
young when
his
fami-
ly moved
to
Echo,
Oregon,
where
he
was raised
and attend-
ed school.
Al
was
drafted into
the United
States Army
at the age
of 18. He
met Joan Adkison, who
was also in the Army and
stationed in Japan. They
were united in marriage
on March 30, 1956, at
Camp Zama, Japan.
Al and Joan had five
children and lived all over
the United States and Por-
tugal during his 20 years
in the Army. Al was de-
ployed to Korea, Vietnam,
Thailand and worked at
the Pentagon during his
military career.
He loved spending
time with his family. Al
was an avid hunter and
fisherman who enjoyed
camping in the mountains
and being in the outdoors.
He also enjoyed carpen-
try. He loved hunting trips
with his son, sons-in-law
and grandsons as well as
John and Charlie Smith,
who he considered family.
Al spent a lot of time yard
saling, and loved to get a
good deal. He met many
friends through the years
and was always the high-
light of the party, making
everyone laugh. Al was
a member of many orga-
nizations: life member of
the NRA, Moose, Elks,
American Legion, 11th
Armored Calvary Reg-
iment,
Disabled
American Veterans,
and the Vietnam
Veterans Associa-
tion.
Al was a won-
derful husband, fa-
ther, grandfather,
great-grandfather
and was a
mentor to
many. We
will
miss
you and are
very blessed
to have had
this life with
you. LOVE
YOU FOR-
EVER.
He is sur-
vived by his
wife of 61
years, Joan
Sather; daughters Jodi
Desjardins (Robert), Kris-
ti Bartley (Russ), Lauri
Stubenrauch (Fritz) and
Shari Humphrey (Alan);
son William Sather (Lori);
sisters Joyce Jones and
Melinda Buwalda; grand-
children Ryan (Angela),
Matthew (Angela), Cur-
tis (Narci), Jessica (AJ),
Brooke (Travis), Mariah
(Nick), Alan and Amanda;
nine great-grandchildren:
Cayden, Alexia, Gavin,
Aysa, Addison, Macie,
Camdyn, Cohen and Cleo;
and numerous nieces and
nephews.
Al was preceded in
death by his parents, two
brothers and a sister.
A graveside service
with military honors will
be held on Friday, July
21, 2017, at 4:00 p.m. at
the Hermiston Cemetery,
Hermiston, Oregon.

MONDAY, JULY 24
9:24 a.m. — A resident of South-
west Third Street, Irrigon, told a
Morrow County sheriff’s deputy that
someone in Morrow County was
using his Social Security number.
10:45 a.m. — Two older men
wearing suits and driving a gold
four-door car on Southeast Clover
Court, Irrigon, left skid marks on
the road and ran over a bicycle. A
Morrow County sheriff’s deputy
took a report.
10:55 a.m. — The Umatilla
County Sheriff’s Office was called to
investigate a man kicking a maroon
four-door sedan at Baldwin Lane
and Canal Road, Hermiston.
4:43 p.m. — The Morrow County
Sheriff’s Department was called to a
residence on Southeast 11th Street,
Irrigon, after a man called and said
his ex-girlfriend wouldn’t give him
the keys to his car, and then threw
rocks at him and the car.
8:20 p.m. — A woman called the
Morrow County Sheriff’s Depart-
ment from the Sub Zero Motel, 100
S. First St., Irrigon, to report her
trailer and storage sheds had been
broken into sometime during the
night.
8:50 p.m. — A Heppner man
reported four men wearing camou-
flage and carrying guns were in his
back yard on North Main Street, but
Morrow County sheriff’s deputies
were unable to locate anyone
and asked Community Counseling
Services to check in with the man in
the morning.

• The Umatilla County Sheriff’s
Office arrested Randall Lee Case, 59,
address not provided, for posses-
sion of methamphetamine.
SUNDAY, JULY 23
2:32 p.m. — A fight was going
on between five and six people
reported to be gang members.
SATURDAY, JULY 22
4:05 a.m. — A caller reported
domestic violence at East Hurlburt
Avenue, Hermiston.
5:49 p.m. — An assault was
reported at Southeast 2nd Avenue,
Hermiston.
6:24 p.m. — A runaway was
reported at South 1st Street, Hermis-
ton.
11:34 p.m. — A domestic distur-
bance was reported at West Orchard
Avenue, Hermiston. Boyfriend was
drunk and biting.
FRIDAY, JULY 21
2:12 a.m. — A caller said some-
one was trying to kick in the door
at an apartment on West Ridgeway
Avenue, Hermiston.
8:19 a.m. — A caller reported a
missing person. He said his brother
has been missing for a couple of
weeks and was last seen in the
Hermiston area.

MISDEMEANOR
• Jessica Marie Gray, 30, Herm-
iston, pleaded guilty to Attempt to
Commit Class A Misdemeanor: sen-
tenced to 90 days jail-suspended,
18 months probation and $100 fine;
pleaded guilty to Assault IV: sen-
tenced to 180 days jail-suspended, 18
months probation, 80 hours commu-
nity service and $200 fine.
• Reynaldo Zepeda Perez, 39,
Hermiston, pleaded guilty to Unlaw-
fully Purchasing Firearm: sentenced
to 180 days jail-suspended, 2 years
probation, 80 hours community ser-
vice, $1,000 fine and $750 fine-sus-
pended, plus court costs and fees.
• Nancy Natalie Cardenas Risue-
no, 26, Umatilla, was convicted of
DUII: sentenced to 60 days jail, 120
days jail-suspended, 2 years proba-
tion, 80 hours community service,
$1,755 fine and 3 years driver’s license
