• The Hermiston Police
Department has recovered
seven counterfeit $100 bills,
and expects that at least five
others were cashed in the
area over April 26 and 27.
The bills, first located in
several area businesses, are
reasonably accurate copies
of $100 bills, according to
Hermiston police. The HPD
have identified two suspects
and are in the process of at-
taining warrants for their ar-
rest, said Detective Panfilo
Rios.
• The calender showed
five weeks left in the down-
town remodel combat zone
in the completion of Main
Street renovations. Between
the wind and rain last week,
crews finished laying water
lines and smoothing dirt for
new sidewalks on the proj-
ect that runs from Highway
395 east to NE Sixth Street.
Merchants continue special
efforts to make shopping
easy for customers. All
downtown business owners
have made special arrange-
ments to help ease the dis-
comfort of shopping down-
town. “Some people even
enjoy the novelty of watch-
ing a little construction and
doing a little shopping,” said
another merchant along the
street.

• Building permits issued
in April in Hermiston by
Harry Keller, building in-
spector, totaled $54,832 in
value. This was a consider-

in valuation, but was an
increase over April 1966,
when permits granted were
valued at $23,504.
• An advertisement pro-
claims that “Buick Bargain
Days are here.” The ad list
the price for a Buick Special
two-door coupe for $2,411,
including federal excise tax
and suggested dealer deliv-
ery and handling charge.
Transportation charges, ac-
cessories, optional equip-
ment, state and local taxes
are extra.

We regret the error.

Ixtapa — I have a good time there.

I like to cook.

A leadership book a friend recommended to me.

Snapchat.
What surprises you about Hermiston?
There’s really good service. I’m from Southern Califor-

when you go to the store. Here, people are very friendly.
If you could travel anywhere, where would you go?
I would go to Mexico — Cancun.
Describe the funniest thing that’s happened to you.
It was just recently — we went to Ixtapa and my team
(at work) told them to sing me “happy birthday.” They
put a sombrero on me... but it wasn’t my birthday.
Name one of your goals for the next 12 months.
To take my father to Mexico.
What is your proudest accomplishment?
My four kids.
