Beverly J. Leader of
Umatilla, Oregon, was born
on April 2, 1932, in Polson,
Montana. She died on Jan-
uary 3, 2017, in Hermiston,
Oregon, at the age of
84 years.
Bev was raised
in Billings, Mon-
tana, and later in
Priest River, Idaho.
She married Roy
W. Leader on June
6, 1952, in Priest Leader
River, Idaho. They
moved to Umatilla, Ore-
gon, in 1961 where she has
lived since.
Bev worked for Lamb
Weston in Hermiston, Ore-
gon, for a short time before
becoming a full-time home-
maker. She enjoyed garden-
ing, the outdoors, camping,
trips to the mountains, cro-
cheting, playing cards and
Yahtzee. Bev had a good
sense of humor and enjoyed
time with her family joking
and laughing.
She is survived by her
daughter Cheryl Holmes,
Umatilla, Ore.; son Roy
“Butch” Leader, Portland,
Ore.; brother Thomas Pen-
ner, Pendleton, Ore.; grand-
children Jason, Jeremy,
Jeanette, Devin and
Carrie; great-grand-
children Jason, Eli-
jah, Isabella, Mateo,
Stephen, Kateri, RJ,
and Rudger; two
great-great-grand-
children; and several
nieces and nephews.
Bev was preced-
ed in death by her husband;
her parents Earl and Mabel
Barnes; son Tommy Lead-
er; stepsisters Jo and Pau-
line; and stepbrothers Daryl
and Gordon.
A graveside service will
be held on Saturday, March
4, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at
Sunset Hills Cemetery,

Methamphetamine: sentenced to 18

fees.

iston, pleaded guilty to Endangering

SUNDAY, JAN. 9
2:16 a.m. - Umatilla police
received a call to check on a male out-
side at Chenowith Avenue and John
Day Street wearing a gray hooded
sweatshirt, plaid pajama bottoms and
slippers.
1:43 p.m. - Oregon’s online Fire-
arms Instant Check System, often just
FICS, red-flagged John E. Egerer, 28,
of Hermiston, when he tried to buy a
gun at the gun show at the Hermiston
Convention Center. An Oregon State
Police trooper responded to the
center and spoke with Egerer, who
faced domestic violence charges in
2009 and 2015, according to Umatilla
County Circuit Court records.
State police referred the case to
the Umatilla County District Attorney’s
Office for consideration of unlawful
purchase of a firearm and providing
false information in connection to the
transfer of a firearm.
1:51 p.m. - Someone broke into a
vehicle on Madison Street, Umatilla,
and stole a radar detector, cash and
other items.
SATURDAY, JAN. 7
7:36 p.m. - Law enforcement and
other emergency services responded
to a report of a car striking a woman.
Oregon State Police reported an
Oldsmobile Intrigue was going north
in the right lane of Highway 395 and
coming to the red light at the inter-
section of East Punkin Center Road,
Hermiston, where a pickup waited in
the highway’s left lane at the light.
As the Oldsmobile drew closer the
light turned green, so the driver kept
going. The pickup, though remained
stopped because a pedestrian began
to cross the highway on the red light.
Brandi C. Weems, 43, of Hermiston,
ran in front of the Oldsmobile and was
struck. An ambulance took Weems to
the hospital, according to state police,
where she refused treatment and
was picked up a friend. “Witnesses
reported the pedestrian had a strong
odor of alcoholic beverage,” state
police reported.
9:55 p.m. - A man on Southwest
10th Place, Hermiston, told police a
woman locked him out and would not
let him back in.
FRIDAY, JAN. 6
12:08 a.m. - A 9-1-1 caller said
he found it suspicious that multiple
drivers gathered and were revving
engines at Wildwood Lane and
Highway 730, Umatilla.
8:06 - The Umatilla County sheriff
helped to get a herd of sheep out of
the road near the Pilot Travel Center,
2115 S. Highway 395, Stanfield.
10:22 a.m. - The Las Vegas Metro
Police Department sent a report to
Umatilla police regarding a possible
fraud case.
11:18 a.m. - A Umatilla mother told
police she has not heard from her
daughter after she went to see the
boyfriend she met online and said
if she doesn’t respond to messages
something is wrong.
2:45 p.m. - A Hermiston caller
asked to talk to an officer about
receiving harassing text messages.
6:15 p.m. - Hermiston police
responded to Great Clips Hermiston
Plaza, 826 S. Highway 395, for a male
bothering customers and kicking the
business sign. Police, though, did not
find the suspect.
THURSDAY, JAN. 5
12:10 p.m. - Stanfield police
responded to a caller on West Ball
Avenue who reported all of her car
tires were flat.
1:16 p.m. - Umatilla police took a
report of domestic violence from a
woman who said a male damaged
her property and threw an item
that struck her, but she did not need
medical help.
1:25 p.m. - Hermiston police took a
complaint about vehicles running the
stop sign at Southwest Division Street
and West Division Avenue.
2:33 p.m. - The Umatilla County
Sheriff’s Office received a tip about
seven dead cows on East Columbia
Lane, Hermiston, and 10 more there
“that are very skinny.”
3:06 p.m. - A caller told Hermiston
police he was concerned with a large
tree limb that looked ready to break
and hit a house on the 800 block of
West Highland Avenue.
9:47 p.m. - A caller on East
Sunset Drive, Hermiston, asked law
enforcement to help after he put
handcuffs on his wrist but had no key
to get them off.
WEDNESDAY, JAN. 4
9:22 a.m. - Stanfield police inves-
tigated a stolen car with the windows
broken out at Premiere Apartments,
120 Vantage Blvd.
11:36 a.m. - A caller requested help
from an officer regarding photos of
her being forwarded to others online.
11:52 a.m. - Umatilla police
received a report of theft from The
Clean Spot, 630 Switzler Ave.
3:41 p.m. - A drunk woman at the
Eastside Market on East Main Street,
Hermiston, was going from car to car,
asking for handouts.
4:58 p.m. - Hermiston police were
called when a brown 1995 Jeep Cher-
okee was reported stolen from Desert
Rose Ministries, 512 E. Main St.
8:47 p.m. - A man and a woman at
the Oxford Suites on North 1st Street,
Hermiston, were trying to get into
rooms at the hotel.
