The Hermiston all-stars ended their season with a sec-
ond-place inish at the 9/10-year-old Little League base-
ball state tournament on Friday in Gold Hill, Oregon.
For the third game in a row, it was Lake Oswego
standing in Hermiston’s way after the teams had split
their two previous meetings.
But it was Lake Oswego that had the momentum
coming off a 16-0 win on Thursday, and it carried that
through the championship game for a 12-1 victory.
Hermiston had beaten Lake Oswego, 11-8, in the
semiinals to reach the championship round without a
loss, but was walking a thin line in each of the irst three
rounds by outlasting Klamath Falls 11-8, and The Dalles
12-9.
Hermiston had earned its spot in the state brack-
et by winning the District 3 championship 11-7 over
Baker.
