Cultural coalition accepts
grant requests
Projects or groups that relate to
literary endeavors, historical pres-
ervation, visual and performing
arts, or humanities and cultural or-
ganizations are invited to apply for
grants through the Morrow Coun-
ty Cultural Coalition.
Funded by the Oregon Cultur-
al Trust, past grants in Morrow
County have supported Artist in
Residence programs in the el-
ementary schools, drumming
workshops, theater performances,
quilting and art groups, histori-
cal library books and the Morrow
County Chronicles.
The coalition is accepting fund-
ing proposal requests from cultur-
al, historic or literary organizations
or projects in Morrow County. The
application must be submitted by
Monday, Aug. 1. Proposals must
meet criteria outlined in the appli-
cation and include a time-line with
project completion no later than
Oct. 15, 2017.

Barking Lot Sale to benefit
animals in need
Donations are being taken for
an upcoming Barking Lot Sale to
beneit Fuzzball Animal Rescue.
The nonproit organization
uses money for spaying and neu-
tering animals, veterinarian bills
and preparing animals for adop-
tion. Donations are tax-deduct-
ible.
The Barking Lot Sale is June
3-4 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., 645 E.
Sunset Ave., Hermiston. The event
also will include rafle prizes.
To donate items for the sale,

donations can be mailed to P.O.
Box 580, Hermiston, OR 97838.
Also, people can call Oregon
Trail Veterinary Clinic at 541-
567-1138 to have money put on
the Fuzzball account.
Sidewalk sale benefits
medical scholarships
A special gift shop sidewalk sale
is planned by the Good Shepherd
Hospital Auxiliary.
Overstock and clearance items
will be half off or less. The event
is Thursday, June 2 from 9 a.m. to
3 p.m. at the main entrance at Good
Shepherd Medical Center, 610 N.W.
11th St., Hermiston.
Money raised from the sale goes
to scholarships for students studying
in the medical ield, medical equip-
ment and other needs at the hospital.
