Evie was born on Jan. 19,
1921, in Wisconsin where she
was raised, but after marrying
an Air Force pilot she em-
braced military life with all of
its traditions and ceremonies.
Moving from base to base
gave her the opportunity to
experience many areas in the
United States and England.
Evie was not one to be
idle and illed her spare time
with baking, knitting, nee-
dlepoint and gardening. She
excelled in all of her hob-
bies; however, baking was
#1 with her grandchildren
and great-grandchildren, and
Evie would always
have cookies for them.
Watching the children
play always brought a
smile to her face.
While Evie loved
all of the family ac-
tivities, her chosen
path was to be a regis-
tered nurse. She loved
working at the Grande Ronde
Hospital until it was time to
retire. Evie was a gracious
lady, setting a lovely exam-
ple for all who were fortunate
enough to know her.
Survivors include her
children, Les with wife Gay-
le, Andrew (Colonel USAF
Ret.) with wife Pam, Anne
Miller-Givens with husband
Larry (Umatilla County com-
missioner) and John; nine
grandchildren; and three
great-grandchildren.
