Richard G. “Dick”
Devin Sr., 64, passed away
in Richland, Wash., on
April 10, 2016, with his
three kids at his side. He
was born in Jackson-
ville, Fla., on August
31, 1951, to Glenn
and Darlene Devin.
He spent most
of his childhood
in North Bend at-
tending high school
there, then even- Devin
tually
transferred
and graduated from South
Umpqua High School in
1969. That same year, he
joined the family business
and Standard Oil. He mar-

Richard Jr., and over the
next seven years added two
more, Doug and Renee.
They lived in Myrtle
Creek surrounded by both
sides of the extended fam-
ily until 1974, when they
moved to Crescent City,
Calif. In 1978, Devin Oil
Company acquired the Ar-
lington, Condon and Hep-
pner bulk plants. Dick’s
father Glenn wanted to re-
turn his family to his child-
hood home area of Eastern
Oregon where he loved the
small town values and hon-
est work ethic of the com-
munities. Dick, his wife
and kids would call Hep-
pner home for many years
with all three kids graduat-
ing high school there.
While the kids were
growing up, Dick coached
and supported all the local
programs. He was an avid
fan of watching his chil-
dren playing sports and was
often seen pacing the side-
lines at a football game. He
has many lifelong friends
from the Heppner area.
Later in life Dick moved
to Kennewick, Wash. Now,
with eight grandkids, he
was never lacking a sport-
ing event or program to
watch. He was so close
with each of the grandkids,
talking to each of them al-
most every day. He was
proud of them and they
were proud of him.
Dick was still the pres-
ident of Devin Oil Com-
pany, a company his dad
started in 1952. In his adult
life, Dick only had
one boss — his dad.
After buying the
company from his
dad, he greatly ex-
panded the business
throughout Eastern
Oregon and Wash-
ington. Dick en-
sured the company
was a huge supporter of
all things local, especially
for kids. Dick lived a very
full life, having many great
experiences through trav-

huge sporting events. He
was a friend to all, kind and
generous beyond measure.
He left a lasting impact on
everyone who knew him.

ther, Glenn Devin and his
wife Dottie, Canby, Ore.;

people’s lives.
Trina was an avid gar-
dener and loved being
outdoors digging in the
dirt, planting and enjoy-
ing the fruit of her
labor. Just days be-
fore her death she
was talking about
how she needed to
be out in her gar-
den getting it ready
instead of sitting
around being sick.
Trina loved musi-
cals and old movies, which
she shared with her chil-
dren and anyone who was
interested. She was an art-
ist and seamstress, sewing
shirts for Conrad, sewing
wedding dresses and daily
clothing, baby blankets,
etc. Trina was a wonderful
cook and often gave cred-
it to her beloved mother-
in-law, Lois Eckley, for
teaching her. She loved
camping and being in the
woods, another love she
shared with her family. In
the last few years Trina and
Conrad made many trips in
their trailer to the moun-
tains and beach, making
the most of their time to-
gether and enjoying each
other’s company.
Trina will be remem-
bered as a beloved daugh-
ter, sister, wife, mother,
grandmother and friend.
Through her illness Trina
maintained her faith in God
and believed that while
God may not heal her now,
he will heal her someday
when she sees him face to
face and he calls her name.
A memorial service will
be held at the Hermiston
SDA Church on Saturday,
April 23rd, at 4:00 p.m.
All who loved Trina are
welcome to attend.
