Elude Police-vehicle; sentenced to
18 months probation, 90 sanction
units, 30 maximum jail units, $140
fine, $1,800 fine-suspended and 90
days driver’s license suspension,
plus court costs and fees; pleaded no
contest to Criminal Mischief II; sen-
tenced to 180 days jail-suspended, 2
years probation, $40 fine and $1,650
fine-suspended, plus court costs
and fees; pleaded guilty to DUII;
sentenced to 30 days jail, 180 days
jail-suspended, 2 years probation,
$685 fine, $1,000 fine-suspended
and 1 year driver’s license suspen-
sion, plus court costs and fees.
•Lawrence Allen Perrin, 39, Ir-
rigon, pleaded guilty to Possession
of Forged Instrument I, Forgery I,
Theft I and three counts of Theft of
Identity; sentenced to 22 months
Oregon Dept. of Corrections, 1 year
post-prison supervision and $140
fine for each count, and $1,269.15
restitution, plus court costs and fees;
pleaded guilty to Driving While Sus-
pended; sentenced to $40 fine plus
court costs and fees.
MISDEMEANOR
•Jeremie Glen Edwards, 41,
Hermiston, pleaded guilty to Failure
to Appear II; sentenced to 45 days
jail and $440 fine, plus court costs
and fees.
•Eduardo Duarte Castillo, 33,
Kennewick, Wash., pleaded guilty
to Throwing Lighted Material; sen-
tenced to $375 fine plus court as-
sessment.
•Angelo Vince Corpus, 49, Stan-
field, pleaded guilty to Providing
False Information-Handgun; sen-
tenced to $375 fine plus court as-
sessment.
•Benford Lee Cameron, 59,
Hermiston, pleaded guilty to Driving
While Suspended; sentenced to 180
days jail-suspended, 2 years proba-
tion, 40 hours community service
and $940 fine, plus court costs and
fees.
•Alex Adrian Alaniz, 21, Umatilla,
pleaded guilty to Unlawful Posses-
sion of Firearm; sentenced to 180
days jail-suspended, 2 years proba-
tion, 40 hours community service,
$440 fine and $1,000 fine-suspend-
ed, plus court costs and fees.
•Martin Ramirez Ayala, 59, Stan-
field, pleaded guilty to DUII; sen-
tenced to 120 days jail-suspended,
30 months probation, $1,185 fine,
$1,000 fine-suspended and 1 year
driver’s license suspension, plus
court costs and fees.
•John Richard Ledoux, 62,
Heppner, pleaded guilty to DUII;
sentenced to 30 days jail, 180 days
jail-suspended, 3 years probation,
$1,685 fine and lifetime revocation
of driver’s license, plus court costs
and fees.
Divorces
Divorce decrees were signed in

Umatilla teacher receives Colonial Williamsburg scholarship

received a scholarship to bring Colo-
nial Williamsburg to his students.

Learners (ELL) and social studies

awarded a scholarship to attend the
Colonial Williamsburg Teacher Insti-
tute, a six-day interdisciplinary course
where teachers exchange ideas with
historians, meet character interpreters
and examine interactive teaching tech-
niques.
Early was inspired to apply for the
program because of his passion for
American government.

Social studies teacher Chris Early

attend a teaching institute in Colonial
Williamsburg.
Christopher Allen Piersol, 32,

Hermiston.
“I have long been fascinated how
our Constitution has led to expanding
opportunities for more and more of
our citizens over time,” Early said. “I
am excited to be learning more about
the time and place from which many
of the ideas in our Constitution came.”
The high school sessions for the
Teacher Institute study civics through
the lens of American history. Teachers
will make connections to past and pre-
set-day issues during visits to James-
town, Williamsburg and Richmond,
Va.
“This is an exciting opportunity
for one of our high school teachers
to gain teaching strategies and inter-
active methods to make history more

Grant purchases vacuum splints
A Good
Shepherd
Community Health Foun-
dation grant of $3,353 has
purchased seven vacuum
splinting kits for Hermis-
ton Fire and Emergency
Services.
The splints work for
“every
conceivable”
splinting situation, from
dislocated shoulders to
angulated fractures, ac-
cording to a release from
Hermiston
Fire.
The
splints mold to the pa-
tient, preventing circum-
ferential pressure, which
reduces nerve, tissue and

blood vessel damage. The
kits have a variety of sizes
and a pump, which evac-
uates the air and makes
them rigid — less painful
to apply than traditional
splints.
The grant was award-
ed in mid-March, and the
vacuum splinting kits have
been received and placed
on each of Hermiston’s
