Former Hermiston resident Richard Burke “Dick” Green,
71, of Millsap, Texas, died Nov. 1, 2015. He was born Dec. 20,
1942, in Enterprise. A celebration of life service will be held
Saturday, March 19, at 2 p.m. at the Hermiston Assembly of
God Church, 730 E. Hurlburt Ave.
Marjorie and Rodney
had three children, “the
three Rs”: Rodney II, Re-
nee and Richard. They
lived in Pilot Rock and
Pendleton.
They
were married for
62½ years.
Marjorie worked
as a telephone op-
erator, at the Sher-
wood School and as
a homemaker. She
was a wonderful
cook, good mother
and good teacher. She en-
joyed gardening. She loved
her family and was very
much loved by her family.
As a member of the
Pendleton Free Methodist
Church she enjoyed her
church family, especially
the Thursday ladies’ Bible
study group.
Marjorie’s
parting
words were “Thumbs up to
Jesus. I’m going to Heav-
en.”
Marjorie outlived all of
her brothers and sisters.
She is survived by Rod-
ney II and Toni Rogers of
Pendleton, Renee and Pete
Banning of Greenville,
N.C., and Richard and
Cristy Rogers of Pendle-
ton, seven grandchildren
and 10 great-grandchil-
dren, as well as many niec-
es and nephews.

3:45 p.m. - Someone reported
a pig on the loose in the area of
Southwest Seventh Street and West
Tamarack Avenue in Hermiston.
8:57 p.m. - Employees at the
Hermiston Walmart detained a
woman for shoplifting clothing and
personal items.
9:08 p.m. - Hermiston police
responded to a domestic disturbance
on Highway 395 where a husband
grabbed his wife by the neck while
they were arguing.
SUNDAY, MARCH 13

HFES motor vehicle accidents — 0
8:27 a.m. - Someone drove over
the mailboxes in a neighborhood on
West California Lane, Irrigon, scatter-
ing mail all over the place.
10:32 a.m. - An Irrigon man
reported an animal killed one of his
goats, but he did not know if it was
a dog or cougar. A Morrow County
sherif’s deputy responded, and the
goat owner said he would set up a
game camera.
1:26 p.m. - A resident of East
Ridgeway Avenue, Hermiston, report-
ed a burglary.
9:18 p.m. - A woman on Mamie
Street, Stanfield, told police a man
may have stolen her son’s “green
and rusted” 1970 Chevrolet flatbed
pickup with a toolbox on the bed.
Almost two hours later, another caller
on that street reported a male who
earlier stole a car from the house just
trespassed and was knocking on his
door.
SATURDAY, MARCH 12

HFES motor vehicle accidents — 0
12 a.m. - A caller asked for an
ambulance to the Tillicum Inn, 1481
Sixth St., Umatilla, for a man who
was the victim of an assault and
may have sufered broken ribs and
hand. The patient, though, refused
an ambulance ride to a hospital, and
no one told police where the assault
took place.
9:56 a.m. - A subject put $10.03
worth of gas in his vehicle at the
Western Express gas station of South
Highway 395, took two packages of Tic
Tacs and some gum and left the store
after he “cussed out” an employee
for being unable to make change for
a $100 bill.
10:18 a.m. - The Umatilla County
Sherif’s Office received a call about
three males and a female on the
Oxbow Trail at Riverfront Park on
Southwest 23rd Street and West
Orchard Avenue, Hermiston, and one
male had some sort of rifle.
10:18: a Hermiston reporter
advised she heard multiple shots from
the area of the Oxbow Trail.
3:45 p.m. - Chickens, a caller re-
ported, were tearing up the grass in his
yard on Paul Smith Road, Boardman.
A Morrow County sherif’s deputy
responded, talked to the caller and the
neighbor and concluded the culprits
were probably wild Guinea hens.
7:50 p.m. - The paster of a
Hermiston church reported someone
had been stealing electricity from the
church using an extension cord.
11:22 p.m. - An intoxicated patron
of the Pheasant fell down and gashed
his head outside the establishment.
FRIDAY, MARCH 11

HFES motor vehicle accidents — 1
12:58 a.m. - Morrow County law
enforcement responded to a call
about a man dragging a woman by
her neck at a home on Summit Lane,
Boardman. A Boardman ambulance
took the victim to Good Shepherd
Medical Center, Hermiston. Officers
from the Morrow County Sherif’s Of-
fice and Boardman Police Department
searched but did not find the suspect.
2:39 a.m. - The Umatilla County
Sherif’s Office received another call
about a man posting photos on Face-
book of vehicle keys someone stole
from Velasco Used Cars, Hermiston.
7:42 a.m. - A Hermiston man
reported someone is using his late
father’s Social Security number.
8:43 a.m. - Hermiston Fire and
Emergency Services responded to a
two-vehicle motor vehicle accident at
the intersection of Highway 395 and
West Elm. The driver of one vehicle,
a Honda Accord, stated a soft drink
can got stuck behind his brake pedal
and he was not able to stop. Both the
driver of the Honda and the driver of
the other vehicle, a Ford F-150, said
they were uninjured.
2:32 p.m. - A man reported the
theft of $3,000 worth of tools from
a job site inside a locked building at
East Harding Avenue, Stanfield.
THURSDAY, MARCH 10

HFES motor vehicle accidents — 0
6:40 a.m. - A westbound driver
crashed a car after missing the last
turn into the viewpoint on Interstate
84 at milepost 223. Oregon State
Police reported the green Pontiac
Bonneville damaged a concrete curb
and reflector post before going over
the bank, then rolled once and came
to a stop on its tires about 30 feet
below the lookout sidewalk. The
impact triggered both air bags, and
state police noted there was a bottle
of alcohol in the car.
But the occupants were gone,
and police did not find them during
a search.
9:51 a.m. - A driver in a white

3:40 p.m. - A male tried to steal
keys to a vehicle after taking a car for a
test drive at Islas Auto Sales, Umatilla.
3:53 p.m. - A caller told Umatilla
police his dad stole $250 from him.
6:19 p.m. - The owner of property
on Sturgis Street, Hermiston, reported
a vehicle struck his fence, tearing
down a 30-foot section. There also
was a license plate at the scene.
9:21 p.m. - Two people on foot
pointed a green laser light at a horse
on North Ott Road, Hermiston. The
horse owner reported the incident but
was not able to provide descriptions
of the culprits.

•Hermiston police arrested Antho-
ny Stephen Anderson, 25, address
not provided, for driving under the
influence of intoxicants.
•Hermiston police arrested Taylor
Reid McKenzie, 25, of Stanfield, for
first-degree burglary, first-degree
theft and second-degree mischief.
•Pendleton police arrested Tyler
James Nef, 24, of Pendleton, for
second-degree theft and third-de-
gree robbery.
•Morrow County Sherif’s Office
arrested Luis Alberto Nunez, 30,
of Irrigon, for domestic violence
fourth-degree assault after a woman
reported her boyfriend punched her,
threw her to the ground and threw
and rock and a drink glass at her.
•Hermiston police arrested
Jesus Zuniga Ayala, 60, address not
provided, for first-degree possession
of a forged instrument, identity theft,
giving false information to police and
on a warrant for failure to appear.

child of Oliver and Maggie
Fleshman in La Grande.
She attended school in a
one-room
schoolhouse.
Then she went to the big
school in town. She gradu-
ated from La Grande High
School.
At the age of 18, Marjo-
rie met the love of her life,
William Rodney Rogers
from Hermiston, at Cove
Church Camp. They dat-
ed for three years. When
horseback riding he said,
“Let’s get hitched as those
old nags are.” They got
married on August 16,
1942, in La Grande.
