Marlois Ann Keeney was
born February 17, 1949, in

the age of 66 years
due to heart-related
health complications.
She
graduat-
ed from Pendleton High
School. She married Robert
Keeney in 1989 in Hawaii
and worked for the state
of Hawaii for many years.
Marlois was an excellent
crafter of beautiful lampwork
beads as well as other crafts.
She was very close to her
companion dog Hoku. Sadly,
Hoku passed away the same
evening as Marlois. She had
a love for music and enjoyed
playing the organ and piano.

Irene Ruby Mitchell
Mowan peacefully went to
be with Our Lord just one
month before her 100th
birthday while at the Hos-
pice Home in Kenne-
wick, Wash. She was
surrounded by family
and looked forward
to spending eterni-
ty with her Lord and
Savior.
Irene was born
in Backus, Minn., to
Edward and Martha Mitch-
ell. She had one brother and
was the oldest of four sisters.
They lost their mother in
childbirth when Irene was
just 16. She lovingly took on
the responsibilities of caring
for her siblings while help-
ing her father run the family
farm. She married the love of
her life, Alva A. Mowan, in
Backus, Minn., in 1936. In
August of 1942 they loaded
up their Model A with two
kids and moved to Herm-
iston, Ore. They moved to
Pendleton, Ore., in 1959.
They had 28 happy years to-
gether before the Lord called
Alva home in November of
1964.
Irene was a loving wife,
mother and grandmother
who always put her family

spend time with her family.
She and her four sisters were

ters.” They laughed, loved,
joked and enjoyed their time
together. She was always
there when her family need-
ed her to lend support and
love.

was blessed with loving and
nurturing caregivers that be-
came like family. We appre-
ciate the care they gave her.

died Monday, Feb. 22, 2016, in Wal-
la Walla. He was born July 8, 1921.

ner, 49, of Hermiston died Saturday,
Feb. 20, 2016, in Hermiston. She
was born April 25, 1966, in Provo,
Utah. A funeral service will be held
Saturday, Feb. 27, at 10 a.m. at the
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints, 850 S.W. 11th St., Hermis-

R. William Sinor, 91, of Irrigon
died Sunday, Feb. 14, 2016, in Herm-
iston. He was born Nov. 9, 1924, in
Elk City, Oklahoma. At his request,
no services will be held. Burns Mor-

SUNDAY
3:26 a.m. - Umatilla police warned
people at Marina Apartments on Sec-
ond Street to quiet down their loud
party.
FRIDAY
5:51 a.m. - An Irrigon woman re-
ported the theft of her black Honda
Civic from Southeast Fourth Street.
12:05 p.m. - Drivers on a
four-wheeler and two dirt bikes were
“tearing up the road and adjoining
properties” on Baggett Lane, Herm-
iston, according to a member of the
Neighborhood Watch.
9:19 a.m. - A caller told the Umatil-
la County Sherif’s Office a woman he
knows told him her boyfriend beat her
last night and he could hear the boy-
friend screaming during the call.
12:25 p.m. - The Umatilla Coun-
ty Sherif’s Office received a report
that a former employee of Space Age
Fuel, 77522 Highway 207, Hermiston, is
transporting stolen license plates.
12:37 p.m. - A Umatilla caller told
police a neighbor was being “very
rude and had vulgar things displayed
in his window.”
SATURDAY
12:33 a.m. - The Umatilla Coun-
ty Sherif’s Office received a sec-
ond-hand report of people driving by
a house on Daytona Lane, Hermiston,
while “flashing a gun.” The caller also
said he was just at the house and saw
people outside but could not give de-
scriptions.
10:15 p.m. - A woman on Gun Club
Lane, Hermiston, reported someone
was in her house and she did not
know who it was. Law enforcement
responded.
11:44 p.m. - Two men fought out-
side a trailer home at Sunset Trailer
Court on Umatilla River Road, Umatilla.
A witness reported one male choked
the other, who also was bleeding from
the nose. They went inside a home but
continued to fight.
1:04 a.m. - The Umatilla County
Sherif’s Office received a report of
gunshots at Northeast 10th Street and
East Punkin Center Road, Hermiston.
1:51 a.m. - An Irrigon man reported
he was drunk and asked the Morrow
County Sherif’s Office to arrest him.
Law enforcement took the man to his
home.
5:08 a.m. - A semi driver reported
someone broke into the trailer while
he was showering at Space Age Fuel,
77522 Highway 207, Hermiston, and
stole cheese.
7:33 p.m. - Boardman police re-
ceived a call from a resident of Mar-
shall Loop who said they returned
home and found a strange car in their
driveway, and a man sleeping in their
carport.
WEDNESDAY
09:08 - A man reported incident
between his girlfriend and another
man, and now that man is threatening
to beat him. The caller asked to have
a Umatilla County sherif’s deputy
contact the suspect to stop the harass-
ment.
9:25 a.m. - A female fell and in-
jured her leg on South Alder Street, Pi-
lot Rock. A Pendleton ambulance took
her to a hospital.
2:54 p.m. - A resident of South
First Street, Irrigon, reported the theft
of elk horns from his shop.
10:50 a.m. - A Weston man report-
ed a riding lawn mower has showed up
on his property and he does not know
who owns it.

•Austin Duane Dunham, 19, Uma-
tilla, pleaded guilty to Assault III;
sentenced to 3 years probation, 180
sanction units, 90 maximum jail units,
80 hours community service, $140 fine
and $800 fine-suspended, plus court
costs and fees.
•Tyler Jonathan Hays, 19, College
Place, Wash., pleaded guilty to Felon
in Possession of Firearm; sentenced
to 18 months Oregon Dept. of Correc-
tions, 2 years post-prison supervision
and $140 fine, plus court assessment;
•Jorge Moras Nava, 24, Patterson,
Wash., pleaded guilty to Felon in
Possession of Firearm; sentenced to

3:55 p.m. - A resident of Tri-Harbor
Landing Apartments, 210 Klickitat St.,
Umatilla, reported the theft of a vehi-
cle he had just purchased. The caller
said all the paperwork and the license
plates were with the car. He requested
contact at his apartment.
10:13 a.m. - A caller told the Uma-
tilla County Sherif’s Office someone
dumped a lot of trash right before the
“Y” in the road at Lee Street Grade and
Campbell Road, Pendleton. He also
said some of the trash has names on it.

deputy said the vehicle’s plates also
didn’t match the vehicle.
11:38 a.m. - Umatilla police re-
ceived a complaint about a camp fire
north of Umatilla bridge.
1:11 p.m. - A Milton-Freewater
resident on Highway 339 reported
the theft of a $400 bicycle and a $250
bicycle.
1:36 p.m. - A caller told Pendleton
police he sent $380 via Moneygram to
a person in Bend for concert tickets,
but now is unable to contact the per-
son for the tickets.
1:45 p.m. - One person was injured
when a garbage truck went through
the bridge at Upper Rhea Creek Road,
Heppner. Multiple agencies respond-
ed, including the local hazmat team
out of Hermiston. Heppner Ambulance
took one male to Pioneer Memorial
Hospital, Heppner.
2:41 p.m. - Someone stole some
of the prescription medications be-
longing to a 9-year-old Pendleton
girl and a full bottle of her mother’s
medication.
3:23 p.m. - Two juvenile boys
fought in the area of Southwest Good-
win Lane, Pendleton. Police talked to
each and notified their parents.
4:47 p.m. - A Hermiston-area call-
er on Northwest 15th Street reported
someone broke into the house and
stole multiple items, including guns.
5:21 p.m. - A Boardman woman
found one empty bag and another bag
full of bullets on Parkside Road. She
wanted someone from the Morrow
County Sherif’s Office to look at them.
6:51 p.m. - A male fell in the area
of the Umatilla County Justice Center,
4700 N.W. Pioneer Place, Pendleton,
and hit his head and may have broken
a foot.

Richland, Wash., died Friday, Feb.
19, 2016, as the result of an automo-
bile accident near Pilot Rock. She
was born May 28, 1996, in Water-

March 5, at 12 noon at the Hermis-
ton Christian Center, 1825 W. High-

10:15 a.m. - An employee of Sin-
clair, 100 N. Main St., Boardman, re-
ported a male in his late 20s or early
30s opened a soda and refused to pay
for it, and he was very intoxicated.
3:52 p.m. - After receiving a report
of suspicious activity in the area, a
Morrow County sherif’s deputy recov-
ered a stolen vehicle from the vicinity
