neighbor’s chickens dug up his flower
beds on Diagonal Road, Hermiston,
and he did not want to have to shoot
them himself.
5:13 p.m. - Umatilla police received
a complaint about a dog lunging at
people at Chinook Avenue and John
Day Street. Police are looking into it.
TUESDAY
11:52 p.m. - The victim of an assault
sought treatment at the emergency
department at Good Shepherd Medical
Center, Hermiston. Staff reported the
59-year-old man suffered abrasions
but did not need stitches and he
needed to make a police report.
12:21 p.m. - A female broke
items in a Umatilla store, threw an
employee out the door and then took
off in a vehicle.
12:37 p.m. - Two men went to a
home on Buffalo Lane, Hermiston,
yelled at a man there and threat-
ened to beat him. A caller asked the
Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office to
send a deputy.
12:50 p.m. - An Irrigon man
reported a burglary and theft of a
lawn mower at a residence he owns
on West Fourth Road.
1:13 p.m. - Someone stole the
change mechanism from the soda pop
machine outside the Ione Market, 285
W. Main St., Ione.

plus court costs and fees; pleaded guilty to
Driving While Suspended; sentenced to 60
2:32 p.m. - A male wearing a hat
and a mask with eye holes tried to
open a woman’s door on Southeast
Fourth Street, Hermiston. Law
enforcement was not able to find the
mask wearer.
3:29 p.m. - A caller from the
Boardman coal fire power plant asked
the Morrow County Sheriff’s Office
to send an extra patrol around 5:30
a.m. to Tower Road near the facility
because there can be 1,500 vehicles
on the road then, and several of the
drivers are reckless.
4:44 p.m. - A resident outside
Heppner reported his horses were in a
lather and one had claw marks on the
hindquarters but no blood. He said his
dog also has been missing for a few
days and suspected a mountain lion
was harassing his animals.
7:01 p.m. - Umatilla police re-
ceived a report that a man threatened
to kill his wife and burn the residence
down with her in it.

•Oregon State Police arrested
Kyle Ray Slusky, 24, of Hermiston,
for unlawful possession of a firearm,
second-degree mischief and DUII.
•Boardman police arrested Ethan
Ray Ellis, 25, for felony fourth-degree
assault.
•Morrow County Sheriff’s Office
arrested Joseph Morancie, 52, no
address provided, for driving under
the influence of intoxicants.
•Umatilla police arrested
Roger William Shipley, 49, no address
provided, on a felony warrant and for
possession of methamphetamine.

Megan Lorence is an outstanding student at Umatilla
High School. Megan is a senior with cumulative
weighted GPA of 4.17.
Megan is an outstanding
young lady, who is not only a leader at Umatilla High
School, but also in our community. Megan played
soccer for four years and exemplifies the term student
athlete. Megan enjoys robotics and is a key member
of our UHS team. She also enjoys working and
teaching in our after school Stem program and helping
out in the community doing service projects. Next year
Megan is planning on attending Concordia University
where she will study Early Childhood and Elementary
Education.
